Going to shoot on Sunday... So, went and looked in the ammo bin and realized that I only had 56 .308s! Oh man. So, did the brass work today and got 200 trimmed/primed cases. Will have to load them tomorrow.

Just think of all the money your gonna save! Have fun with it! The best part is when you get everything together (your boolits, load, etc) and it works really well.

I'm gonna buy the 30-30 at some point... But I'm strapped. However, with my Henry in 44 mag, I win the occasional rifle comp against AR-15s and I can hit a 2' target at 400 yards... So a 30-30 Henry has to be awesome.

Had a fun surprise! My buddy came by with a 80% 308 lower. He just had a baby and he's had a lot of stress, so he pops in and says "Hey, will your jig work for this?" I looked at him and said: "Yes, do you want to cut it tonight?" and I saw the...

Realized that I was about 20 boolits short for the rifle stage tomorrow, so loaded 33 44 mag to fill up a box of 50.

44Blam replied to a thread New casting today in Cast Boolits
With PC, I tumble with airsoft BBs and then pick them out by the nose with very fine tweezers. Sometimes it messes up the nose, but I don't really care as long as the main part of the boolit is good. With this method, I can bake 120 44s, 175...

Good to know! I would not be worried if I saw a bear or a mountain lion at a couple hundred yards... I think I would only be concerned if I had one that looked like it was or was going to attack.

This is a good point Marko! I got 2nd with that lever gun a couple months back. They make you run to get your hear rate up for that shoot, so people do miss even though it's not very far.

I generally cast with one mold, but when I cast big 45's, I also cast 44's... You have to go so slow with the 45s that you might as well cast some 44s... EDIT: I have two Lee handles and one Lyman handle..

I like just lighting a grain or so of new powder when I get it to see how it actually burns. One day I decided to "set off" a WLP primer with an extended length lighter and my wife was PISSED. *POW*

So, the thing I found with casting is that the bigger the boolit I am casting the slower the cadence I cast at. I've got a 90 grain 30 cal mold that you have to race to keep everything warm. Then my .40 mold is constant movement and it doesn't...

I've got the 20 lb bottom pour. I think it really only holds about 15 or so lbs. I did a 15 lb cast today and I put in 12 3/4 lbs of alloy and had a couple lbs in the pot to start. BUT I had to level it and it was right at the top - maybe a 1/4"...

Cast about 15 lbs of .40. Should be good for my matches for about a month or so. My mold is a NOE 402-HTC-188 and has 2 cavities. I kept the boolits from pour #2 on and with the exception of my pouring the occasional bad pour, I got all perfect...
