Last gun I bought myself was a 1939 Izhevsk Mosin Nagant 91/30. That was a few months ago. I got lucky and it's a straight shooter. I'm close to finishing dialing in my load with the Lee 185gr .312" RN, and it looks like I might be able to squeeze a...

I started casting several months ago, and got lucky enough to find a consistent and high-volume source of free wheel weights. I've now sorted through probably a couple hundred pounds of them, and so far not one zinc weight has made it into my cast...

Finishing up my first ever AR-15 and felt like I should do a fairly standard M4 Carbine-style one in .223 for my first. But you better believe the next AR on my build list is a 300BLK pistol, and as soon as I can afford one, a nice big can on the...

Going to run it through my M&P FS. I have no reason to believe it has a particularly tight chamber or throat; it's an M&P after all and my RNs sized to .358" have no trouble chambering. Feeding is my only real concern. Swamp, how much would you...

ACWW isn't an acronym I'm familiar with, but I'm using ingots made from both clip on and stick on WWs. BE is another acronym I'm not familiar with. I have heard the TL design may be part of the problem, which is why I started this thread about...

I'm taking a hard look at this mold for my 9mm target shooting out to 25 yards, and have read good things. Normally I'd just buy the 6 cavity mold at this point, but I've heard some guns have trouble feeding with this boolit, so I'd like to try it...

Good info. I've found so much conflicting information about what ranges of BHN you actually get from WW alloy. I realize it varies, but while you're saying you can get 23BHN with water quenching, I have other people who have sworn to me that WW...

Thanks for the story Boaz, I really enjoyed reading the whole thing and getting caught up when I discovered this thread a week or so ago, and spent the rest of the time waiting on tenterhooks for each new post.

Looking good man. It's always amazing to me that some PC boolits can look like a circus attraction while others can look so deadly.

Two likely culprits I see here, although I'm far from an expert: 1) Sizing. If your groove diameter is slugging at .356, then I wouldn't try shooting any boolits sized smaller than .357, and .358 is probably a better bet. Otherwise you're not...

If you absolutely can't get dry media to do the job, maybe it's time to give wet tumbling a try. The Harbor Freight dual drum rock tumbler is cheap and has enough capacity to easily keep me in brass for my Mosin, AR-15, and M&P 9. Hot water, a...

My most recent casting session was around 16 lbs of wheel weight ingots converted into Lee .356" 124gr RN TL boolits, and another 5 or so lbs of wheel weight ingots converted into Lee .312" 185gr GC RNs for my Mosin. Got 50 of those loaded up at 5...

This is something that hadn't occurred to me. Everyone talks about PC being hard enough to stay as a consistent coating even if you flatten the bullet with a hammer. I haven't ever tried that with mine, but sometimes even the seating die leaves a...

Good advice everyone, thank you. I'm going to see if I can eliminate leading by going to .359" as Smoke suggested. I did examine my loads as potential cause of leading, but I'm not convinced that's the case. These are fairly light target...

Hey guys-- I cast and shoot 9mm through my M&P and have absolutely loved shooting accurate bullets for less than a nickel a round. My first (and currently only) 9mm mold was the Lee 6 cavity 124 grain round nose tumble lube design. It was working...

I can't say for sure since I haven't seen your barrel in person, but if you're using pure COWW alloy, you might be getting "antimony wash" rather than lead.

Thanks for the insight and recommendation. I'll pick some of that stuff up and give it a try. Switching away from Bullseye anyway, but I will temper down my optimistic hope that W231 will cure my leading woes on its own ;)

This is a good point. My bullets still look very well covered by the PC after sizing, but it's worth a try to size first and PC after. If nothing else, I might be a little closer to .359 if I'm not sizing after PC. And don't worry - I'm going...

I'm building my first AR-15 right now, it's basically a vanilla M4 with a 1:7 or 1:8 16" barrel. In addition to shooting j-word reloads for longer ranges, which I can do for about $0.20/round, I'd like to be able to make plinking rounds from lead...
