Don't think powder coating will impact terminal performance. What you care about is boolit cohesion/toughness rather than hardness. Hard and too brittle and you run the risk of hitting a heavy bone and having the bullet grenade rather than...

Yeah, the Lee 30 cal soup can is a frustrating mold, but they sure are fun to shoot. The 452-200 SWC is what I shoot more of than any other mold. Glad it casts easily. This mold must be nearing the 10,000 boolit mark. I know I will eventually...

I hear that. The pot limitation is real with 45 boolits. With the Lee 6 banger in 358-125 I am usually beat by 3 pots. I like and shoot the 358-105 but do not own the mold (will have to fix that). I imagine the pot would not be a constraint...

Probably have 2000 loaded already. Staying out of the indoor range and shooting black powder in the forest extends the ammo stash tremendously.

It is getting hot here and I cast outside, so one of the last cooler days was a good way to be done until the fall. I set everything thing up and started casting with my easiest casting mold, a Lee 452 200 swc 6 banger. Several hours later I...

A maxi ball over a wad and 80 grains or better of powder should be very accurate. You can find original TC maxi ball molds on Ebay for not a lot of money in 50 cal. Make sure your lead temp is up to 800F and your mold is preheated.

Either pick up a maxi ball mold or one of the Lyman plains bullet molds. You will need to smear some lube in the grooves, but you should not have to size them. What are you planning to shoot them out of?

I shoot 4.5 grains of bullseye mostly. I also shoot a full power load of 7.0 grains of unique and carry it in the woods.

Jack makes fantastic red chile posole. Drool, might have to nixtamalize some blue corn and make some of that this week.

Cottontails are white meat, jacks are red meat. Cook them differently and you will be happy. For example, I can do a jack cut into cubes with a beef stew recipe (subbing jack for beef) and it comes out great. Cottontails work better with more...

Realistically, a 2 or 3 inch group at 100 yards will do it without a fuss for most deer hunting. I struggle with vision and always have, so I really need a scope for shots beyond 75 yards. If I expect a hunt to be a long distance shot (elk), I...
