You guys in places where you can take multiple deer are killing me. I can get a decent tag every 2 or 3 years and have a chance at one deer.

I would not want to buy a really hard bullet because it could be loaded with excess antimony and therefore potentially brittle. Brittle bullets fragment if you hit bone. 15 is plenty hard. You want to make sure the alloy has some tin to help it...

The challenge with elk is usually getting within 200 yards of them during hunting season. I have gone with partitions in 3006 because shots are often 300 yards and longer.

I don't have any reason to doubt this account as an exceptional case of a deer running on pretty much pure adrenaline. The post mortem butchering does not lie: double lung and the top half of the heart damaged would be tough to misunderstand. ...

Are there any downsides to converting a percussion sidelock to a 209 nipple? Percussion caps are expensive ($8 a tin), but since I reload shotshells I have a whole pile of 209 shotshell primers that cost a lot less.

shooterAZ, are they usually called Kaibob squirrels in your neck of the woods? Most of the ones up here are coal black. I once caught sight of a cinnamon colored Abert's, but it disappeared pretty quickly and in any case they were not in season. ...

Japanese and modern production. I bought it early this year from CDNN as apparently someone had ordered a run of short-only rifles and could not sell them. The price was right and I got my choice of walnut or maple stocks. Always wanted one of...

This would have been cast hunting, but I really wanted to try a hunt with my short-only Browning .22. There was weather coming in this afternoon, so I went to a favorite spot not that far from the house this morning and spent some time wandering...

So I will soon be casting for my 50 cal and the goal will be round balls and a conical or two to use for target and hunting, respectively. I know that pure lead is the usual choice. So will SOWWs work? I know they are almost entirely lead. Is a...

I am looking at next year for deer and elk and it looks like my best chance for tags will be with a muzzleloader. As we all know, many days end without shooting at game. What do most hunters do before heading home for the day? Just shoot the load...
