Interesting thread. In another direction, I have a the new Savage 22 semi auto silouhtte model with a GEMTECH can on it. With HV ammo it's no ear plugs but still not silent. With Std Vel quiet but still not silent. With subsonics (have to run by...

There are TWO Hodgdon "modern" 45-70 loads that reach 50K cup. Both are 4198 and are teeth rattlers (I've shot them in a No.3 !) Any Browning or contemporary Winchester High Wall would not break a sweat. Here's what Speer has to say: ...

I have used 4756 for years based on a series in Double Gun Journal that buried the damascus barrel myth. Easy to develop 10 and 12 gauge loads with pressure curves and pressures lower that black powder loads. Just scored a minty 1894 Remington...

It's a decent old scope if the lenses are not delaminated. It was the first "budget" scope with an AO. They are easy to work on and clean, just don't break the real crosshairs. IN ANIB condition they will bring $150.00, an average used one $50.00....

The powder guy's answer was a typical corporate CYA. There are "modern" High Walls and there are "modern" High Walls. The Browning and Winchester ones are chambered in modern high intensity cartridges. My 1890 Browning WY Commemorative w/30" bbl...

Concealed carry is difficult at the Southern end of US 1. Fishing shorts and T-shirts just can't hide a 1911. But with a Sticky brand pocket holster this will vanish. Minty little thing w/box, instructions and extra magazine for chump change. CCI...

Dumb idea. MUST be done on a lathe or it won't be straight. Very exciting when a bullet hits the brake or worse yet a suppressor.

I guess he is suggesting, with no evidence, that the early ones somehow had a different bore dimension. I find it hard to believe any peacetime Lowe product was not subject to stringent inspection and did not meet purchaser's specification.
