Really, a minie ball shot better for you? I don't want to bother with most minie's, but I have been looking at the Lee improved minie oversized 540" diameter.

I don't know the entire history on why the military went with 230 grain as their choice, but I do know the 1911 and 45 acp were originally designed around a 200 grain bullet. I'll be the first to admit, I am a heavy bullet guy. In nearly every...

I've got them casted, so I might as well shoot them. Yes, I have a Thompson Center Renegade. The guy I bought the mold from says they shot great in his Renegade, so who knows.

Yes, but as I said, the cavities are not even big enough. Obviously I can't get a bullet bigger than the mold no matter what alloy I use.

I would never purposefully take a shoulder shot, and while it sounds like Chill Willis had good results, everything else I'm seeing on animals is adequate but not spectacular. I do not believe in energy dump at all either. While mine hasn't shot...

Not much about Curry but did find this info on other forums: "The Curry rifle was made by G. W. (George) Curry, a gunsmith who had a shop in San Angelo, Texas from the early 50's through the early '80's when he retired." "George was most noted for...

Clarification, I do not want tumble lube grooves on the buckbuster slug, only smooth sided. It is a cool idea on the full bore slug though.

I consider position sensitivity and extreme spread to be two different issues, although one can effect the other. A 327 federal most certainly can work great loaded to 32 long levels. It's not hard to do at all. 45 colt is supposed to be light...

The commercial slugs in 2 3/4" & 3" that I shoot are the same specs, just more spacers. They are the same velocity & recoil.

.3575" or .358" are the ideal size bullets for that gun. Assuming you are running about a 158 grain bullet, 900 to 1000 fps is a light load, you could get away with straight lead if you wanted, 11 bhn is great.
