Landy88 replied to a thread "OLD" Hunting Clothes in Clothing
You Southerners post about hunting in jeans and tees just to be cruel. My typical for deer hunting - I don't hunt deer til elk is done - is a silk layer, a wool layer maybe two, a fleece layer, and a water and wind resistant shell layer.

Despite all of the improvised or more sophisticated die type flaring tools, these little Lee gadgets do a great job and offer the best bang for the ounce or the buck.

That will assemble into a very fine small game and woods-bumming rifle.

A Lee case length gauge is a functional substitute for these all too often missing pins. Add a brass or copper acorn nut to it's threads; if like me, you are a bit zealous in protecting tools.

A Liberator is, too, a pretty poor pistol; but it is a pistol, and all that some once had. Didn't a bunch of gun grabbers just have a nationally televised meeting, where the highest officials in this land plotted extra-judicial gun seizures?

On another forum, John Barsness answered this question; that in powder company testing, to which he was a consultant, cast bullets have had a higher pressure peak than jacketed. Cast obturated quicker and better, for a better seal. Much loading...

That reads like progress. You are zeroing in on the load as well as the target.

Exactly of where I was thinking trying. It has lower elk take stats than many units; but I think that's due to low hunter use not elk population it's a bit remote and has limited access with the Olympic park and the Quinault Reservation surrounding...

I be alone with a vote for humble stew chunks cut from wherever that's not an obvious steak or roast. Having no grinder, I make a good proportion of these; and have a few recipes for them that have become favorites even over prouder, note that I...

No, I know that it'll limit my chances of taking one; but I'm just going a with friend and his grown son (They'll go anywhere suggested if there's fishing water and hunting country.), who will also be new to it. My desire to hunt each subspecies...

That reads like a lesson from hard experience. My evolving sense of how to approach Roosevelt hunting is as a bit like a hybrid of RME, moose, and oddly enough blacktail hunting.

Almost nothing transforms such a simple and humble list of ingredients into such greatness as do shortbread cookies.

The experienced opinions on Roosevelts, 9.3s, and the YT channel lead are all appreciated. I confess that I'm pretty excited about getting to hunt new elk in new country.

Yes, I've seen that these are burly bodied elk and that their country is thick. Idaho's panhandle is thick timber hunting country, but Roosevelt's country looks like it kinda closes right up around animals and you. I'm glad to see that you think...

I'm down to my last box. I want some more. I'm casting my own, now. They quit offering this bullet years ago. They wouldn't tell me when I asked, right after they quit offering it.

It's coming together for me to hunt each variety of elk this next season, with only Tule in Cali still a bit in doubt; and Roosevelt's at the short ranges likely in that coastal rain forest has me thinking they're a natural for cast bullet hunting....

Using leftover chili verde for the meat and "maters" base and topping with poached eggs is a nice and easy twist - an improvement, I daresay.
