Iím new to reloading. I just ordered a set of Lee Makarov dies and Iím wondering if I also need the factory crimp die. I read some places that the seating die also crimps. But in other places I see conflicting info. If someone wouldnít mind, help...

I bought it back in 1994 and have shot it off and on with MilSurp. Never had it head space checked, but it is a good idea. Will do that when I get back from this trip. Cheap insurance if nothing else.

Rookie mistake on my part. Went to Wally World and bought only large rifle primers they had. I was in another gun store (big reloading supplier) and he said not to worry about it. So Iíll use them up and then probably switch. Any...

Thanks everyone. Getting ready to go on business trip, so Iíll do some web searching while Iím gone and see what I find on Cerro cast. The one I watched (iraqvet8888) did warned not to get it into the spots were the bolt lugs go ... ďyouíll never...

That sounds deluxe! I'm just getting started, but when I do get a dedicated space, that would be a nice setup.

Nice! Mine is 35.75 inches tall, 24 inches deep, and 31 inches wide. The 24x31 was determined by a scrap piece of plywood I had sitting in the garage. FYI, I put a single crossmember (not sure what you call it in carpentry world) from front to...

I'll try that too. Getting ready to go on business trip, will have to try when I get home. Great idea though!

Larry, Thanks so much. Actually I want to hunt with it next season. I think it would be cool to use a vintage rifle to harvest some venison. My biggest challenge is I have more vintage rifles than seasons and tags!

Everyone ... thanks for the advice, I'll do all of the above. Actually, there is a bit of smoke coloring around the necks, both on the Remmy and the Mosin. Given that I'm in the middle / low middle range for powder in each of those loads, I'll...

Thanks. I'm naturally very detail and process oriented. Plus I'm not doing huge numbers, so no pressure to "churn and burn" when it comes to reloading. I tend to check, recheck, and check again. The Remington rounds were perfect. Nice primers,...

Yeah, I'm heading down that path. Barrel slugs at 0.313 but have others saying I need to slug the throat. Still new to all this (CB), so trying to figure out how to do that and also how to get materials / tools to do it.

Thanks guys. These are literally my 21st, 22nd, and 23rd reloaded shells. The first 20 were in a Remmy 700 .30-06. I'm just trying to be super cautious. Results were decent enough, and better than the MilSurp! See pic:

Ironic that I stumbled across this. I just bought a bag of new unprimed PPU brass from Grafs. It says to full length resize first, but my M44 chambered and extracted them all just fine so I gave it a go w/o the full length sizing. Using Lee hand...

Thanks. I was worried about that little bit of "cratering" ... most easily seen on the middle one. That rolling up of the metal at the edge of the divot created by the pin.

Just donít judge me on my messy basement! After 10 military moves, and last one at retirement in 2009 ... still havenít unpacked everything! I had partial sheet of 3/4 plywood so thatís what drove the size. 24inch deep and about 30 or so wide.

Just fired my first ever reloads for Mosin-Nagant. 180gr FMJ over 42.5 grains of IMR4895 & CCI 250 primers. Barrel slugs at .313. These bullets were .311. New PPU brass. Books say this should be middle or lower middle. Do these primers look like...

I've gone through the sticky on "Chamber and throat" (note 1). Without the photos it's a bit more difficult to follow (I'm a visual learner), but I think I get the concept. Namely there's a section of the barrel ahead of the chamber and before the...

I like that. When I drilled the holes for the press bolts, found out that one of the 6 inch bolts was too long ... as it went only through plywood surface vs plywood and 2x4 frame. Easily solved by a short section of 2x4 added as a ďsisterĒ along...

So I have an M43 Mosins and a Lee Enfield (No4Mk1) that both slug at 0.313. Looking for recommendations for boolit to try before I go buy molds. Also have tons of questions about gas checks vs coatings, vs leading, etc. Looking to get...

I elected to go with one the same height as my workbench in the garage. Decided it was better to have it match so if I later want to move it, I won't have benches of two heights. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
