I hope you guys are right, and maybe it will sell better than I think. It's still not my cup of tea, but for now I have access to H&R single shots. They can be had for less than sellers seem to think they are worth. Just this year I got a 12 gauge...

Anyone looking for a simple, cheap gun is not going to pay $360 for a single shot when you can get a bolt action for under $300, plain and simple. What that leaves is the guy looking for a switch barrel gun. Henry doesn't have that, T/C has that...

I guess good for them for not compromising the Henry look, but still, $360 dollars. They could use a cheaper metal finish, cheaper wood, and get them around $250, then you've got a seller. I guess I shouldn't say anything without having handled one,...

If you want a rifle or handgun single shot, with a handful of barrels, no doubt the T/C encore is the best. The first gun seems expensive, but you won't find a better market for barrels, and no fitment issues I'm aware of.

I just don't see there being a void, other than a low priced, quality single shot. There are dirt cheap single shots, but they are Chinese or Turkish made, and very low quality. The void is where H&R was. USA made quality with a fantastic design at...

Over $150 for an outdated computer program? Wow, talk about a monopoly. I'd rather pay $600 for RSI pressure trace, but that's just me.

That saying is definitely derived from catfish, not a household cat.:redneck: It simply means there are a ton of ways to the same outcome. I'm not a big catfisherman, but I feed guts to the chickens. They will eat anything.

I have not tried a round ball in a shot cup, but I could see where that would be nice. I will say I really like these .735" round balls. They just plain shoot. Super easy to cast, no messing with lube, and I am truly impressed with their short range...

Any idea the diameter? I wonder if it has possibilities for a full bore 12 gauge?

I also use a bore snake. Primers themselves can be corrosive, but a modern 209 should be ok. At least better than water. A nice tip for those who shoot inline muzzle loaders. If you are too lazy to shoot and clean your gun every day, which I am...

That slug looks pretty typical of my good ones. A few cosmetic imperfections, but should shoot fine. I've even been sorting by weight, with an average of 786.5 grains with 20-1 alloy. That is also about the accuracy I'm getting at 50 yards. The best...

Related to the accuracy, I've had lots of problems pan lubing these. I tried a homemade lube, and it did not work well. I have gone to Canaruba Red, which is a great lube. The two problems I see are that the angles for the lube grooves are too...

I am using nitro cards between the slug and plastic wad, which are about as hard as they come. I may have to try replacing the 12S4 with some fiber wads and a gas seal, but have not yet. I am pretty sure the keyholes were due to the lube, but I...

I'm a single shot fanatic, but I'm just not sold, the price is too high. No doubt the quality is there for the price, but for a couple hundred extra you can get their lever action. I've been drooling over the steel carbine in .327 Federal since it...

I just wanted to pass this along, as I searched for days without finding a pre-fit recoil pad for H&R/NEF single shots. A slip on small fits well, but it turns out the slip on Pachmyer Decelerator is made in China. I have 2 H&R toppers and 1 NEF...

I figured It's appropriate to do a follow up on these 770 grain slugs. I've been shooting them all summer, but I am not too impressed. I've had problems casting them, and lubing them has been an exercise in frustration. The good ones don't shoot too...

Just a follow up, I tried them in both my ultra slug hunter and mossberg 500 (smooth bore with rifle sights). The USH shoots about the same as the H&R tracker. I managed a 2.5" 4 shot group at 50 yards. The Tracker shoots about 3", but has open...

Thanks a lot guys, Unique works great. Even at 16 grains, it burned nice and clean. I settled on 18 grains, which provides the best accuracy, and recoil is not bad at all, even in the light gun. Velocity at 18 grains is 950 fps at 8' (just under...

Yeah, Bluedot is not a dink around powder, it loves pressure and payload. It is my favorite powder by far. I have loaded those round ball slugs. My MEC was having a real hard time getting a fold crimp. I finally got it with an overshot card, and...

I'm not all that impressed with mine in 12 gauge. It works, but the crimp leaves a lot to be desired. You can't even resize cases. The Lee Load-All II is a big improvement. I screwed my Load-All II to a 2x4, and I can clamp it to any bench. This kit...

I managed to dig this thread up, but those pressures seem way too low for what those are. Especially the bluedot. I just shot 34 grains of Bluedot behind those 770 slug (which weigh 786 grains with 20:1 alloy), and they are certainly not 6000 psi. I...

Thanks for that, I've heard about using unique before. I have no pressure equipment. I have a feeling I could safely get 800 fps with something fast like 700x, but I'm not going to risk it. I feel good about unique.

This is not for my ultra slug hunter. I'm shooting those giant 770 grain slugs in that. The Tracker only weighs 5.25 pounds, even a target load kicks good in it. All I want to do is shoot a 580 grain slug 800-1000 fps. It looks to me that HS-6 would...

It is 12 gauge, smokeless only. The reason is that a standard load is uncontrollable in the gun I'm loading this for. I could go to a smaller slug, but I'd rather run low velocity with a full bore diameter slug. The gun is an H&R tracker (rifled...

I've been busy punishing myself with these 770 grain slugs, and hopefully I can have some real numbers up later on the results. This week I have a special project, a bit of a contradictory. I want to load a full bore round ball (about 1 3/8 oz),...
