You won't find any in a big amount, but plenty of people shoot 3" federal loads at clays. Usually they are the plastic base, steel shot shells, and right now is when you will find them. A shell I'm currently trying for slugs is the 3 1/2"...

I love those gold medals, they are fantastic if you want a fold crimp. For a roll crimp, you are best off finding 3" federal's and trimming to 2 3/4". I often wonder if shooting 2 3/4" in a 3" (or worse, a 3 1/2") allows a slug to cant slightly. I...

Unfortunately, you have to mill out the sight too much. I went until it was cutting through, but the rounded corners (I used an 1/8" end mill) made is so it would not move over enough. I put a brand new sight on it, and will be sending it to Ruger....

Do you mean that the wad is no longer seated firmly on the powder? Or do you mean some powder sneaks past the powder cup and you can hear it rattling in the cushion section?

I have a Bushnell 3-9x40, I believe it is a trophy model. It has been passed around my family, but never found a good fit on a rifle. I need something with a bit more power, and more eye relief. This would be perfect for a general purpose hunting...

Unfortunately you can only take off about .030" before it cuts through. I took it to .035" and will try it. I have a feeling it will just have to be sent to Ruger.

I too have the T/C impact, and the Hornady FPB bullet is the most accurate one I've tried in my gun. The 300 grain version shoots ok, but not great. The 350 grain one is fantastic. With the open sights I was keeping 5 shots under an inch at 50...

You know, you might be on to something. I just measured a handful, and the top band only measures between .505" and .510". If It was up to the full .517", they would fit much better. How high would you guys say I can go with the pot temperature? I...

These seem to cast very well. I'm running the pot between 700-750F. I pre-heat the mold, then it's just a couple pours before I get great looking bullets. Are these supposed to fit tighter in the bore? Hopefully this weekend I'll get to do actual...

I have been shooting a T/C Impact with cast Lee REAL's and am undecided yet. I am wondering some other peoples results. I am casting from mostly pure lead. I am using Blackhorn 209 for powder. So far I have only tried them off wobbly benches, in...

I went and bought one of those fancy "spin doctor" tools from BPI, and it doesn't to much. It's designed to go in a drill, but it seems just pushing it in by hand does just as good a job. Definitely one of those don't over think it tools. To seat...

Thanks for the advice. I would just rather leave sending the gun off as a last resort. I was just curious why off-setting the front sight isn't more common on fixed sight guns. I certainly don't expect this gun to be a bench rest 50+ yard gun, but I...

That's good to know about the serial number thing. Not that it's a big deal, just that I'd rather spend a Saturday shooting, not figuring out bureaucratic paper work. Minnesota has plenty of weird laws, but it's no New York. As for my shooting...

Earlier this spring I bought a Ruger LCR in .327 federal, and have been having a blast shooting it all spring and summer. I began casting my own 120 grain SWC's, and have been amazed at the groups I shoot. The sight radius is so short, it feels...

Unfortunately, I never loaded for 10 gauge. I owned one once, but it was such a turd (not bad if I thought of it as a single shot, looking back), I got rid of it. It's the only gun I ever sold. I think 3 ounces of shot would be great, assuming...

I do not, and have never shot in a competition or a league for trap, skeet, sporting clays, or any other shooting sport. I do, however, shoot a fair number of clays a year, I've probably shot about 1500 o far this year, and plan to shoot quite a bit...
