Your bullet performance was fine...Your shot placement needs some improvement if instant drops are your intent. Place you bullet 3" below the horizon , in line with the shoulder/ spine junction. Thinking 3-d, I imagine a tennis ball sized bull's...

Stick with your normal 30-30 gas checked bullet, and try 10-15 grains of unique... what fun. But don't kid yourself... that 170-ish grain bullet at 1100+/- fps is also a quiet pig killer. Check old lyman #3 as a guide for load levels.

Daylight transfer is a wonderful measure, and a lead slug measuring .458 leaves lots of it. Any velocity 1200 to 1500 fps will kill effectively inside any range where you can properly place your shot.

Pile driver??? The NEI 458-440-GC is a 440+ grain slug very nearly shaped like a full wad cutter. The leading edges are rounded a tiny bit, but for a close range hog hammer it's tough to beat. NEI is Out of Business due to the passing of the...

It seems that when seated to the crimp groove, all my Ranch Dogs (2 lee and 2 NOE Mulitcavities ) jam the rifling instead of just lightly engraving. Also there are feed jams with the broad meplat combined with the length. When seated just over the...

pls1911 replied to a thread Cause for concern? in Cast Boolits
While 1800 fps isn't "too fast" for the alloy you're casting, don't hesitate to stop at any velocity above 1600 fps giving best accuracy in your gun. Your hard bullets will penetrate into next week, and ballistically there's not much difference...
