Sounds like the urban legend about the German waiting to hear the "ping" from a Garand before poking his head up. Never been in battle, but if someone was banging away at me with an M1, I doubt if I could concentrate enough to hear the "ping". ...

MOST of the time homemade is the best but there are exceptions. Growing up my mother made ketchup. It was awful. I can't describe how awful without getting perma-banned from this forum. Almost nightmare inducing kind of awful. ...

Monica's in Monroe, Michigan is hard to beat, one of theirs will almost put you in a diabetic coma. Better yet is the Cop Shop donut shop here in Michigan, there are several of them spread around the north half of the lower peninsula. One...

Watched a buddy shoot a couple of 6.5x53's out of a 275 Rigby--a real Rigby rifle, not a lowly 7x57 like the rest of us shoot. He's a bit of a Rigby nut..... Well, they sounded a bit on the puny side but the boolits hit the dinger, figured...

My best was from earliest memories of steak in the early 60's to 1977, last year we raised feeder cattle. Every fall we put in between 160 and 190 head of yearlings. ~700 lbs. Mostly white faced Herefords. Fed them out to ~1300 on ground ear corn...

Check on Lee collet crimp dies, if it's not a standard size Lee should be able to make one for a reasonable price. More crimp will probably allow the 30-30 converted cases to feed properly.

And reconsider the no upgrades. You may want to consider an extended magazine release and the automatic bolt release. Two simple additions that make it easier to use, especially with fingers that aren't as flexible as they used to be.

I have an air gap, but I pre-heat the mold on a hot plate. I tried the "pressure cast" method with the sprue plate against the nozzle, never got the hang of it. The mold is definitely not hot enough and perhaps the lead is on the cool side. ...
