Ruger barrels have gotten a lot better since Bill passed. Bill Ruger accomplishments legendary and they are part of history, however, he never understood or cared about serious accuracy. Best example are the 25 rifles that Bill Ruger donated...

Same for me. I tried Rem 6 1/2's, CCI 400's and various pistol primers and Rem 7 1/2 worked best. I have read the 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 have the same priming compound with the only difference as cup thickness??? It could just be a lot to lot variation...

I've never seen one that shot that poorly period. That being said most of the ones I have done are NM rifles that needed bedding and or a new barrel. I did a dozen rack grade unfired M-14's with the standard barrels and 4 or 5 shot well enough to...

Yup, Federal and Norma tend to be on the softer side. Lots of the long range competitors determine what the max pressure they are willing to run by when number of fires before the primer pocket loosens. For me I liked to get 8 -10 loadings before...

Early 70's Woolworths would have 22 ammo for $3.75 on sale with a super sale of $1.98 with a limit of two bricks. I would make my sister, aunt and my mom goes so to $15.84 I would get 4,000 rounds of 22. That would last me two weeks to a month.

You can use pretty much any of the 45 pistol dies for sizing , IF , the case can pass through . Turn a rod for any of the universal decapping dies , then you just have to get that 209 out through the Colts or 45 S&W shell holder . Then you have to...

Thanks for post the above. Lots of great info. The area I am unclear about is cases like the 375 Win and the 45/70 stretching Contender frames. They are almost straight yet they can be hard on Contender frames. In your test the 375 Win. exited...

Bolt thrust is the critical number for Contender frame stretch. It's easy to calculate. Not sure how the 357 Max inside area of the case head compares to something like the .204 Ruger which doesn't have any issues in the Contender. Higher end...

To you it doesn't but when you are recommending one over the other you should be forthcoming about small things like running it 40% over SAAMI to get that level of performance.

That a very fair comparison all things being equal. Running one at 40% over SAAMI not so much.
