If the scrapyard doesn't sell lead to the public, perhaps you could tell them you will contribute to their after work beer fund if they will help you out with your lead fund.

Actually that is a leather riveter, the brass cap on the side unscrews for tubular rivet storage. Used to be one on every old time farm sale in my area. I'm not that old, but I've used one to repair harness back when I had draft horses.

I still use corn cobs, and like the texture of them, but one time had one on a heavy wood rasp and was really bearing down on a piece when the cob split and the file shank made a nasty cut in my hand. So now its wood handles for big files. I had no...

My last Cabelas sale ad shows them at $324.99, with a $75 rebate makes it quite tempting!

I have a 311403, a Pope flat base design, and a 366408 for the 9.3x57's. I really like the 311403 after I figured out how to load them properly, they shoot great in my Krag.

User55645, I have a piece of a 03a3 barrel, that came off of a drill rifle. It's .950 OD and tapers down to .700 at 11 inches, would that work for you? The bore is not new, but should clean to VG. PM me if you can use it. Jim

If you can find a copy of Phil Sharpe's "Complete Guide To Handloading", it has a lot of load data for the Rem cartridges, but most is for long obsolete powders. Does have loads for 3031,4198 and 2400 powders though. I think some of the loads in...

Back in the 30's Savage made the Super Sporter Model 40 and 45, in cal. 250-3000, 30-30, 30-06 and I think.303 Sav or 300 Savage. I have a 30-30 and killed my last deer with it. The model 45's with the factory reciever sights are really nice rifles.

It looks like the bottom sight is a Lyman 48, and probably for a 03 Springfield. It should have the letter S stamped somewhere, mine is stamped on the flat just beneath the rear screw hole, the hole covered by the slide. The front of the sight will...

Instead of using graphite, try using Lundmark liquid floor wax to coat your shot. I just put a little in a plastic jar with shot and agitate it a bit, and dump out on newspaper to dry. It leaves it nicely coated and much cleaner than graphite.

You just have to love them 12.7x44's, I've got a Remington finished by Carl Gustav in 1868, that is as new, but 150yrs. old, still unfired by me as it is still a rimfire. My shooter is a Husky made in 1870, and it WILL SHOOT! Thanks for the pics,Jim
