Very good summation. If you are like me most of your game will be taken under 300 yds and at those ranges your Whelen will be an excellent performer.

That should work on everything the lower 48 has to offer, actually Alaska too. That powder has to be in H380 or even closer to H414-W760 speed with those load densities, excellent velocity BTW. I would worry about actual accuracy on multiple targets...

The bearings on mine are a little over 1/4" wide and about 3/4" diameter. I have replaced them several times over the years so it's a good idea to have a few spares. They get used for all barrels, strait and tapered.

Had one in a while back with a broken hinge/breach. Made a new one out of 4140 and a bitt heavier with larger screws. Also installed a liner so it would shoot better. The only thing I like about them is the fancy trigger guard.

M-Tecs link is spot on for duplex loading from my experiences. I have loaded duplex in the past for my 1886's and it is safe (IMHO), but I do not use them in Trapdoors. Why are you wanting to duplex? If it is to reduce fouling it does help, so does...

3rd model Flobert. First model used the hammer as the breach block, very low powered cartridge. 2nd was sort of a rolling block.

I started out using dark blue now I'm using lime green Colt, they work great. Just walking across the living room and touching anything will shock you here though.

I'm pretty sure I saw on here where someone was using LED lights hooked to the sky screens on his chronograph for indoor, or low light shooting, said it worked great?

It does seem strange that a 30-30 with 42,000 psi will back out the primer with head space but a 7MM with around 49,000 will stretch the brass so the primer is flush. Some of the test P O Ackley did proved that the brass on some cartridges would...
