I'll live without a wall or healthcare reform if Congress and Trump can pass and sign the Hearing Protection Act ;)

Any object used to assault someone can be considered a weapon... cane, rock, pen knife... etc.

Believe it or not, but Delaware is actually part of the United States. In fact it's the First state. I say this because it seemed to drop off that earlier list. Anyway, I can tell you that silencers are definitely illegal in Delaware.

Absolutely. The cavity is filled and the outside has lube on it. I didn't size them. They cast straight out of the Lee mold at .575. I will take some and make up some cartridges. I do that for my Bess. This rifle was sitting in my friend's...

I concur with Buckshot. My Whitworth beats on nipples and the Ampco ones last longer, easy to find, and a lot cheaper than platinum.

Yeah brass is better. I used an oak dowel, but with all the oil I put in it, it didn't take much to wack it down to a point where the discharger had the pressure to pop it. It's a nice rifle. 1863 Springfield made by Pedersoli and sold by Navy...

I find I get better accuracy without a patch. Heavy load and a lubed wad seems to work for me.

Success! I was able to loosen the ball by driving it down a bit with a wooden dowel and a mallet. The CO2 discharger did the rest. She's cleaned and ready for action again... Lubed action that is. Thanks for all the good advice.

Thank you all. The barrel is soaking in ballistol. I'll look at the breach. But bp first.

He loaded 70gr powder. Couldn't seat the ball. We tried as best we could... but pulled the rifle off the line because the minie got stuck half way. That would be a no go...

It's my fault this happened. I allowed my friend to shoot his Musket with unlubed minie balls. I swabbed the bore out for him but it wasn't enough. I'm completely to blame.

The commercial sell is to try the CO2 thing. Once the oil penetrates maybe I do feed 5 to 10 grains through and replace the nipple and blow the ball out.

Damn, that sounds hard. I did try to seat that bullet, but I gave up beating on it. The barrel is now pulled from the stock. It watered down and removed the charge. And I put oil on both sides. I don't think I need to pull the breech just yet...

Pavia started a thread Stuck minie ball in Muzzleloading.
Shooting a 58 1861 Springfield today. Ball can only go halfway down the bore. It's an unlubed minie ball in a dirty bore. Won't budge an inch. Pull the nipple, soak the barrel to clean out the charge, and apply oil? Then what? A ball puller...
