Just a note the lock panels are not picture frames. The bottom of the panel is a taper from the trigger guard out to the edge and the same with the top edge. The width is right though.

Lee's book gives a "factor" (VMD) for powder density based on how much 1 grain weighs cubic centimeters. The lower the figure the more dense the powder will be and thus will occupy less space with a given weight in a given cartridge. The VMD...

Foraging shot 45-70 load I use a fired R-P case but others work just as well. Deprime and reprime with standard LR (make doesn’t seem to matter) primer. Drop 10 gr of Unique over primer and then gently push a gr of Dacron down on top...

Ball will work fine as long as you don't over charge. About 30-45 grains of FFg in a 50 will be about right. You will need to experiment a little and see what works best but for 25-50 yard target work or small game the light loads will work just...

The Remington NMA is a stronger gun but the Colt Army is a better feeling gun in my hand. The 1860 if fed moderate loads will run over 3000 rounds before it needs tightening. My current favourite for TARGET shooting is a Rogers and Spencer as they...

When I built my target rifle I had the barrel cut with a matching pistol barrel. I built the guns together and thy shot for target the same load ball and patch and powder. The pistol had a belt hook and was the only additional item I carried.

This is our method as well. Tin foil on cookie sheet cook till crisp, but still tender in places like the meat and some of the fat portions. Makes good bacon that way. On the stove top it makes a huge mess and it seems to always scorch and get burnt...

You can make one easy enough from a 45 acp case. Heat anneal and drill for the nipple shank and swedge it out to a cone. My lefty son used one all the time.

Go with the .25-20 by all means. I've shot both the .256 Win Mag in a Contender and then I have a re-barreled M1894 Marlin with a full magazine and a 1-12 twist barrel equipped with receiver, open and scope sights as I prefer. The .256 brass is a...

No doubt as a lot of cast bullets were used by military shooters. Earliest I read of Ideal's (the mould company name) #1 alloy was in Lt. Townsend Whelen's book Suggestions To Military Riflemen (1909) originally published in 1909.

The 358W can give feeding problems in the SR Mauser actions (M93 - M95) as they do not have the correct case taper, same as the .308W. I had a heck of a time getting my Oviedo M93 to reliably feed .308Ws if 3 or more rounds were in the magazine. ...

I was at a rifle range once when an older gentleman (older than me - at the time, probably about 50) showed up with an AK-47 in .223. He started shooting, way faster than I would have been, and was obviously not interested in his brass. I asked if...
