I am no primer expert, but I think I can explain it...Maybe... In putting in primers I have noticed that the "legs" of the new anvil appear to be protruding just a mite from the place where they would be when one presses the primer completely...

I also have a .38 Special and a .38 S&W barrel for "The Infamous Bunny Gun." The small powder capacity of the similar .38 S&W cartridge is an advantage for this purpose and is the prudent gunsmith’s choice to safely restore black powder action...

PC goes on from .001 to .005 in thickness depending on the color and manufacturer. Find the thinnest PC and nock all the excess off when your coating and see what happens. You could ask smoke what his thinnest coating PC is. I would guess clear

For my low noise whacker John Taylor built for me a .45 ACP / .455 single-shot. He used a .38-40 reamer to rough the chamber, so that the barrel also has a rim seat. The shoulder of the .38-40 reamer provides a .455" diameter throat with 6-1/2...

158 SWCs designed for the .38 Special when crimped into the normal crimp groove intrude too deeply into the powder space. Much better to seat the bullet out to about 1.20-1.25" cartridge OAL and crimp in the lube groove. OR get one of the Accurate...

6 gr of Unique will pretty much duplicate 38 SPL+P with that bullet. I most often use 6.5 gr though. You might try both loads. You don't say what lube(?) so I suggest a good softer NRA 50/50 lube or BAC. LLA also works if 2 light coats are used...

Large rifle primers have a greater cup height and will stand "proud" in .44-40 brass unless you use a primer pocket uniformer to increase the depth of the primer pocket so that rifle primers can be seated flush with the case head. Large pistol is...
