Large rifle primers have a greater cup height and will stand "proud" in .44-40 brass unless you use a primer pocket uniformer to increase the depth of the primer pocket so that rifle primers can be seated flush with the case head. Large pistol is...

If you do alot of these in different calibers, get the Brownell's Squibb Rod kit which threads onto the end of a Dewey cleaning rod. I keep mine in the range kit and it paid for itself in one season as a range safety officer removing stuck...

I use a steel rod wrapped with masking tape to where it just fits in the barrel. I start driving the slug with a short (6") wooden dowel (with a straight grain) then finish with my wrapped steel rod. Never had a problem. I found that the...

Swaging brass, you need to separate the brass by manufacturer/years, different manufacturers/years may have different base thicknesses IF you set up the swager for a thick base piece of brass it won't properly swage a piece of brass with a thin...

I suggest you start at 32 gr of the IMR 4895, use a Dacron filler and work up in 1 gr increments until accuracy goes south (will happen before pressure becomes a problem). The bullet should be plenty stable with that start load.

There are many other mold companies out there. I haven't had a need to purchase from them. Maybe someone else will weigh in on MiHec or some of the others. Give it some time and some more research before you throw in the towel :)

First thing I would recommend is a nice long hi-quality steel to keep the edge aligned after it is sharpened during use.. Every few cuts give the knife a few strokes on the steel. As for sharpening it depends on how dull and rounded the edge is. ...

Hootmix, Here is Hercules data sheet for .44-40 featuring RL7, should be OK. You will get some burned powder in revolvers, but as long as you keep the muzzle elevated when you poke out the empties, spin the cylinder and blow out the action...

gwocni- welcome to CB. If you decided to start casting to save money, forget it. You won't, you'll just shoot more. Lee makes a 429-240-2R and a 430, TL 240-SWC, both are good for a decent price. For RF you'll have to go lighter or heavier:(...
