Calamity Jake replied to a thread Defining terms in Cast Boolits
Most rifle boolits have 2 diameters that do the work, the drive band diameter and the nose diameter, your "body diameter" should be the same as the drive band dia. "Bore dia." is the bore dia. of the barrel before the grooves are installed, both...

I bought 500 cases from starline in .44WCF about 10yrs ago. Stuff was hard as a rock. too thick to load a .427 bullet in my old 1st gen COLT. Most cases were too long or too short. It didn't expand well enough to seal the chamber when fired with...

I have 3 03.'s two of which are low numbered one being under 30,000 the other under 250,000. Both have 1940,s barrels on them. I shoot both with cast using 16.0 of 2400 and will never worry about one exploding.

I cut the chart out of the 2017 catalog and took it down to my local Staples. Had them blow it up 200% and Laminate it . It's the size of a placemat. Now it just sorta floats around the bench. The back is Fluorescent ORANGE. I never have trouble...

Started priming .38spl brass while sitting in a corner of the garage, amidst all the male member's of my family doing other reloading chores. Wasn't allowed to start casting until I was 8yrs old. Pouring Lead balls for my Dad's ORIGINAL NAVY 36,...

I carried a now old RUGER Service-Six with a 3"bbl in .357 from 1977 until 1998 (got busted up, no more "woodswalking"). It's a stainless gun that I round-butted to fit the old Pachmyar Compac grips. I got a ROY'S Pancake holster for it. Carried on...

All new Straight WALL cases should be Full-Length Sized. Even tapered cases like .45-70 or .44-40. The first brass I bought from starline was .45COLT. I expanded the case mouths as I always did with new REMINGTON & WINCHESTER. Then primed and...

When I was a kid we used a small cement mixer with I can't remember what ? We're are talking 50's-60's-70's. I know they were wiped off, then resized&decapped first. Clean brass is always easier to inspect.

I returned mine. It needed 3 8min cycles to clean one layer of cases. Bought a LYMAN & LYMAN Cleaner "juice". Now I clean 100 223's in 8 minutes. Made a 300 case drying rack. By the time the 4th 100 are clean the 1st 100 are dry.

The old guy who ran the Pizza place near where I grew up thought anyone who put fruit on a pizza was a "blankety-blank. I agree with him. Pizza dough is interesting though.

I had been casting for many years before I found this sight back in the late 90's, a short time later I acquired an 8MM Mauser and ask for bullet samples, a gentleman and member of this sight sent me an obsolete(323471) Lyman mold to cast some ...

I've been using a LYMAN 1200 since they came out 35+yrs ago. I clean the bowl using Armor-All every time the media needs to be changed. Use it to wipe off the lid liner too. Probably why the liner is still in such good shape.

It's amazing how every SWC design is attributed to Elmer Keith. The LACHMILLER is actually a copy of the H&G #51 that Phil Sharp designed for the .357MAG back in 1935. The Keith bullet is too long to fit in a S&W .357 MAGNUM, ie; Model 27. S&W...

Walks replied to a thread Win 1894 38-55 in Leverguns
I guess starline must have changed their .38-55 brass. I bought some from the 1st run, loaded some .379dia #375449GC over IMR3031-28.0grs. Loaded with no die adjustment as the cases were already at minimum length for modern case length. The...

I have 3 30yr old molds that I put a drop of super glue into the thread hole about 12yrs ago. None of them has loosened yet. At least 3000 bullets or more cast out of each one. The 44-214-1R has cast about 12,000 bullets in its lifetime. A bit of...

COWBOY ACTION SHOOTERS are the ones who would blow up their guns using a dillon. They were feed the hype about "How easy it is to load on a dillon". Just put a case and bullet in and pull the handle. I know of one guy who said dillon told him the...
