I'm with Larry on using the softer alloy for hunting. In most guns you can get away with 1 to 20 tin-lead with a plainbased bullet, or 1 to 30 in a GC design for much better expansion.

I agree with 454PB and Minerat about how much PC adds, I guess my sizer is wore out. Also if you powder coat and you're shooting a 700 FPS bullet, no need for a gas check- unless you shooting over 1200 FPS. I've seen this info countless times on...

Checked out loading PC'd bullets for the .32ACP for the 1st time. Haven't loaded .32ACP in 20+yrs. Adjusted the seat/roll crimp die to handle #311252 - sized .311, 1st bullets from my own casting efforts. Before I had loaded J's or bought cast from...

Just came in from checking out my RCBS 1990 .32ACP Die Set. It is a roll crimp seater. Sized & expanded a few cases, seated & crimped a few Lyman #311252 Cast of 50/50 #2/COWW and PC'd with Smokes J.D. Green. Sized .311dia Seated to roll crimp...

Find a used pot such as the original RCBS Pro-Melt or a Lyman Mag-20. I have an extra Mag-20 that I bought off fleabay a couple of years ago. Tested it and have it waiting in the wings for when my 1st Mag-20 or Pro-Melt croaks.

Lyman #358156GC cast of #2 - 157grs over 14.0grs of 2400. The small front driving band feeds without issue in My Marlin 1894CS and Browning 1892. Accurate to 75+yds, never shot anything bigger then a coyote. Groups into 3" at 100yrds from a rest...

This thread came along in good time for me. I'm about to load .32ACP for the first time in I can't remember when. Certainly not in this century. Have to check my RCBS die set to see if it has a taper crimp die/seater.

It's ironic because today I was refurbishing the top of my old Craftsman table saw. Hadn't used in while and was trying to get thin coat of rust off. Started with 1200 grit sandpaper-no dice. Long story short, I wonder if that "Renaissance wax"...

First of all, if they are casting at .451 you may not even have to size, depending on what you're shooting from. Second, I have boxes of .452's for my 45 ACP that's been sitting for months, a few weeks ago I dug out 100 and powder coated. I cast...

Small rifle primers similar to the Federal 200 and Remington 6-1/2 have a base metal thickness of 0.018 + 0.0015/-0.000 and closely resemble the primers used in military cal. .30 M1 Carbine and 9mm M882 ammunition. If your pistol or revolver has...

If you are going to load for .32 ACP in quantity for several pistols, I highly recommend standardizing on Starline brass unless you can hoard a suitable quantity of RWS, or Fiocchi, which weigh the same and are similarly constructed.

I haven’t tried cast I the Grendel. Read of the issues some have had in Swede. I’m good with out that. I don’t have to shoot cast in everything. I mean I have some that are ONLY cast shooters. Why not have only jacketed. ;) CW

I have read the discussion with interest, but unless you live in a state which requires straight-wall cartridges I don't really see the need. I don't care for the AR platform and I am a dinosaur who prefers lever-actions, so the .35/.30-30 was a...

I used a great deal of PB many years ago for plainbased gallery loads in the .30-'06. Some of the older Lyman handbooks had data, but I used mostly 8-10 grains in the .30-'06 with #308241 in the 154-grain weight and 6-7 grains with #311257 and...

Purpose for the push test is because when bullets telescope deeper into the case, the increased seating depth increases load density and therefore pressure. I have not measured the effect in .32 ACP, but in M882 9mm NATO ammunition, breaking the...

Push test for commercial .45 ACP is 40 pounds and this is adequate for handgun use. Military loads which are sealed with Black Lucas will normally withstand 65 pounds, which was the WW2 standard based upon needs for the Thompson SMG. For 9mm...

A push test is standard with military ammo. Early .32 ACP rounds had a deep knurl rolled into the case under the bullet base to prevent telescoping.

Some factory .32 ACP rounds are crimped, but not all are. RCBS .32 ACP dies produce a well-formed, roll crimp, if desired. It isn't necessary to do so as long as your seating die removes all mouth flare and bullets are seated tightly enough...

If it is a .32 Winchester Special it is a pre-1964 because no .32s were made after that. Around here a .32 Spl. sells for about $100 less than a .30-30 of similar vintage and condition, about $450 vs. $550. They are good guns, but factory jacketed...

The .327 in a snub has recoil similar to standard velocity .38 Special fired in a similarly sized gun, but is VERY much louder. Tractor Supply has garden aprons with pockets which would support an Airweight J-frame effortlessly. If SWMBO does...
