I have Weaver K series scopes on several rifles and a shotgun. Most have been on rifles since 60s. They ain't Leupolds but in 60 they were popular scopes. They were built well and in K series they were trouble free. After they sold out they were...

Drm50 replied to a thread I want pure lead! in Muzzleloading.
To be sure of " lead" you are using I would get some known pure lead and cast some balls. If they load properly you know the flange lead is alloyed. Most of the old roofing lead is close to pure, some still is but some is alloyed with zinc.

I don't have a lot of knives. Got a Kabar that I don't carry because it's to big. Have a skinner I had custom in 70 before the craze. My hunting knife is a Canadian Trapper which I have carried for over 50yrs. It's on its third sheath. Small game...

My buddy has 1/2 mag 94 in 30/30 but his doesn't have shotgun butt or that sight. His dates from early 1920s. I have a pair of 55s with 1/2mags but they have standard butts and sights both from 1930s.

Two points, Marlin lever guns don't like SWC style bullets. Even Marlin 39 doesn't feed well with Trunicated cone style bullets. You can double clutch the lever, just back it off a little when cartridge top the carrier and nose of bullet will drop....

Never shot one. Handled used one in a shop. Owner told me he sold it 3 times since he took it on trade. Owners traded it back in because they couldn't get it regulated. It seemed clumsy to me, but I've owned a couple SXS rifles that were preWar made...

We had a Trapdoor when I was a kid. It had been cut down into a Sporter. My dad would only allow us to shot BP in it. Never questioned him because he had drove into us the danger of using smokeless in wire twist shotguns. I killed a deer with that...

I don't doubt you one bit. Every once in a while a cherry or lemon is produced. The nature of mass production. I've had TC Contenders and never had any problems. I had 22, 44mg and a 14" 30/30. No complaints but guys getting barrels in stiff rifle...

Me too, the TCs are better guns than H&R, Henry or import breakdowns. H&Rs are selling for $350-400 locally if in Ohio legal deer cartridge. I don't see the value in them. I'm not a fan of TCs either I think all the break downs are over priced.

I shoot nothing but cast and mostly WCs in all calibers in my S&W revolvers. I don't like Lee WCs. They may be ok at up to 50ft. but we shoot out to 100yds with Lyman 438-148 and Lee WCs key hole badly. Shooting in 357 cases out of m27 S&W. I didn't...

I like straight grip stocks for shooting open sights, except on bolt guns. I do think the stock shape, size and design on hard kicking rifles makes a big difference. I have #3 Ruger 45/70. The stocks on them are to short. I shoot heavy loads with...

I had a Martini in 22 Ackley Jet. I didn't have dies for it and modified a couple dies and used several other dies to form cases from 357s. It was 9 step procedure but produced nice brass. I had Rem Jet dies but they were usless to use as form...

I load 38super brass for Astra, Star and Destroyer carbine. I thin rim of brass in lathe, from inside edge. I have found 38S brass is hard on extractor , especially on Star. Probably not necessary in Astra & Destoyer but I turn them all. In the Star...

I shoot Hornady 55gr SX in all my 22CFs which are all BAs. It's good bullet and second choice would be Speer 55gr SP. I figure 55gr is lightest bullet that is practical for for my shooting which is varmit and seldom shoot over 400yds.

I don't know about sabot type slugs but Foster type will not harm FC guns. Although they generally don't shoot well out of FC guns 410s seem to be the exception. I cut off. 410 FC Moss and D&Ted and mounted scope. Gun would shoot 1.5" at 50yds. I...

Barrel length means a lot shooting shot loads if you have a cylinder or sawed off barrel. Without choke of some kind it's short range gun. I have a very hi condition 1897 Win that I got cheap after Bubba did a home choke job on it. I was going to...

If sight has to be cranked a long way towards base it was probably ment for a CF rifle that is wider across the reciever/ action.

My first brand new CF rifle was a pre 64 M70FW in .308. I still have it and it will do a 1" at 100yds. I have had a 6x scope on it since new and only change I made was to upgrade to a Leuplod from a Weaver K6.
