That 22mag probably leaves nothing but lips on bull frogs. I know a guy who used a Monroe County Gig on frogs. It used 22 shorts.

In early 60s the first big box store in our area was Harts Family Center in Bridgeport, Ohio. My dad went to grad opening and came back with two pistols and a sack of doughnuts. The pistols were Colt clones from Germany. One was 22lr and the other...

Seasoning is to make low grade meat eatable. Really good meat is ruined with all the stuff people put on it. You are just using the meat as a sponge for spices. Bar BQ is a different story as well as smoking. Those are processes that require sauces...

I’ve got a 83/8” and 6” in 27-2, blue. They both shoot very well. My Bro was fired up over how well they shoot as compared to M19s. The 27s edge them out when you are shooting 100yds. Anyway the very next gun show we went to my Bro is on the warpath...

I have seen Stevens Maynard Jrs with no butt plate, just horizontal grooves. When I was 5 my dad bought me a Marlin 1897 carbine. Very nice 22 but at 5yrs I couldn’t hold it up to shoot it. A friend of the family gave me the Maynard Jr and it was in...

I had Stevens Maynard Jr. for years. The stock was a flat plank. Rounded edges. Stock was drilled through and connected with stock bolt. Simple flat steel butt plate. Also the stock was not Walnut I believe it was pine or fir.

You would have loved this one, a 22lr conversion I picked up in a lot from an estate. Shot it but sights were lacking as was ejector system, you had to punch them out with rod. I will have to say it was very comfortable gun to handle and fire.

No, the bases are some kind of patented affairs. The ring is locked with same screw the locks the middle section to the base. Base has different profile and must have cut out in base for locking surface. I’m going by copies of advertisements and...

Ditto, on 30/30, I loaded spitzer bullets in 219 and shot better groups than any lever. I have never had a 219 apart. I have had Savage 220 shotguns apart and the are PIA just like most hammerless singles of the period.

I will say this about that. A Korean vet bought a new Rem 1911 at Cabelas. He decided to give it a proper cleaning before firing. Now guy was in his 80s and he was a squib, so you got to cut him some slack. He couldn’t get it back together. I had...

When you are talking years back and prices you got to allow for the value of the dollar. The S&W HDs were 38/44s which were N frame 38specials built for hot loadings with heat treated cylinders. Many were reamed to 357. The adjustable sight model...
