I’ve got a few 357s and they shoot very well. I have m19s & m27 S&Ws. They are ok but when you get right down to it if you are shooting a lot of 38Spec loads you don’t need a 357mg. I say 357 is minimum and marginal for deer size game and only at...

I have Brownell's screw drivers and several other top shelf sets. I have been thinking of buying bit type set. I use drill/ drivers almost every day and can tell you their is a big difference in quality of bits. Brand name means nothing because most...

There are several Savage/Stevens 94 series shotguns as well as many store brands they were sold under. Most of early guns 94 thru 94c, the barrels will fit the actions. The PIA is the forend latch type. The forend stud on barrel aren’t the same. I...

The only major leading I’ve ever had was with factory swaged lead bullets. I cast for several calibers and size for individual rifles. I use to cast hard bullets but I don’t anymore. I shot loads of cast in revolvers and original LV type rifles at...

I didn’t have any interest in service type revolvers when I first got heavy into guns in early 60s. S&W and Colts were a dime a dozen used. When I started shooting m10s I found that if you shot 158gr police loads they were on the money.

I used 200gr RN cast for 30/40 Krag. I got my loads out of a Lyman manual from 40s. The 1895 Win action is best kept under 4500psi I had several original 1895s. 30/40, 30govt06, 7.62 Rus and 303 Brit. They all did better with RN bullets, cast or...

Having to use straight case cartridges have done a lot with them last 5yrs. Mostly with 45/70, 375W and 44mg. 45/70 Marlin 1895 JM and #3 Ruger. 300gr JHPs. Used IMR-3031 & 4198. The Marlin edged the #3 by a hair at 100yds. The 375Win in Marlin and...

    I have used BL-C2 as my standard load in Rem 722 in 222 with 55gr bullets for years. I don’t do ARs but I have a #3 Ruger 223 that I load 26.5gr of BL-C2 / 55gr Hornady SX at 3100fps.

I would have bought that deal even if I had no use for it. Does Canada have restrictions on barrel length now that they didn’t have before? It’s been 10yrs since I’ve hunted bear in Canada. I use to go 2-3 times a year and always took two rifles. My...

My dad made me a nice ball puller out of stainless and brass back in 60s when TC first came out with their Hawkin rifle. Have 3/8 brass rod center drilled for 5/16 drill bit. Bit held by set screw. After you hand twist hole through ball you...

I don’t like 357 for deer and I don’t like 45/70 either. 357 is minimum that is practical and 45/70 is over kill. Not that either one won’t get the job done. I’ve never killed a deer with pistol cartridge in carbine but have killed several with...

There is only one sure method and that's total strip. Anything else is just an excuse for not dropping the running gears. I would bet most of the handguns floating around today haven't been properly cleaned. If you totally strip a revolver there is...

The H&A rifle I had looked like target gun. In Flauderman book closest thing was Ladies Perch Belly target. It was a 25/20 SS. It looked like that rifle buy was a bit fancier.
