I have my KaBar I brought home over 50yrs ago. It is a good knife and holds excellent edge but is on the big side for most field dressings.

Chambers in Ruger must be enough oversize that your load isn't sealing case. This can also cause primer backout and possible punctures.

I would say in $50 neighborhood. Nice K Magnas can be had for $25 up. They are probably the most common of all S&W grips. Thousands of S&W K frames were used by law enforcement and most had Magna grips.

I wheel and deal S&Ws, P&R era or older. It aggravates me that rubber grips are put on S&Ws and stock grips sold separately. They only do this because buyers are to stupid to dock the price the value of a set of factory grips. You can find same...

I had the base on my 1895 on to overhang front of action. Because of position of adjustment turret on scope I had to get movement to get eye relief. A lot of the new generation scopes have shorter tubes and less adjustment travel between rings. ...

Nice job, I've always liked Stevens 94/ Savage 220 series better than H&R and IJs. I have a original 94 in 12g that has case hardened reciever. Gun is near mint. Have another 94b that I need wood for. Not easy to find. Small differences in forend...

32cal from handgun is not a practical choice for deer. It is marginal at best in a rifle. Yea it will kill them under idea conditions, so will a 22rf.

I’ve had 3 smokeless action RBs. Two 7mms and a 30/40. Shot 30/40 a good bit with 200cast and mild load of IMR-3031. I remember vel to be about 2000fps.

I live in Ohio, no large animals to attack. I fooled with a lot of 22s to find perfect loafing gun. This is carried while wade fishing and while engaged in other outdoor activities other than hunting. The gun has to be accurate enough that it’s...

I shot a deer with 185gr WC at 750fps. 40yds, kilt it dead, it did flop for a few seconds but through shot had a great effect on its oil pressure. 44special.

This past fall my bro bought Bulk Browning 22 ammo at Cabelas. We were shooting several rifles and handguns and the Brn ammo was terrible in S&W revolvers, Ruger auto pistols and several rifles including 10/22s. It was dirty, inaccurate and high...

I'm not sure but I think I bought them from Brownells. I'm sure they are avaiable in SS. In fact I think I have seen them in either torx or Allen style heads. Mine are standard slots and blue.

I have a SBH from 1964. I always had to check the screws for each shooting session. I had a screw shear off from once. I bought a set of replacement screws with nylon inserts and have had no futher trouble.

Drm50 replied to a thread First Lever Action? in Leverguns
I have used levers for woods deer hunting since I started in 60s. 100yd and less there is no need for BA accuracy. Had a Marlin 1897 22 since I was a kid. I don't do cast for 30/30 but do for 25/20, 32/20, 38/55, 45/70 and pistol cartridges. Most of...

There is to much over thinking on cartridges and bullets for deer. A 30/06 is plenty of gun for deer and the best bullet is the one your rifle shoots best. All the Hunter has to do is make a decent shot. Gimmick bullets don't make up for poor shots.
