No, stylish looking but won't hold up as well as yellow brass. Any linear scratches in nickel will be a starting point for cracking. Nickel was so there was less reaction with leather shell loops.

The only thing I have to add is the stock finish. I have suffered remorse from putting modern finish on old classics. I now hand rub them with boiled linseed.

I have a Brn Light 12 that is very low rd count gun. I bought it in a lot, bad news is that owner had passed several years ago and gun was stored in a cheap hard case with egg carton type foam padding. The right side of action and wood is in very...

I got a new Single-6 in 1964, I was 14. Shortly there after I picked another one up on a trade. My best friend traded me out of it. We got stuck mowing his mothers grass, big-big yard, lapping each other on riding mowers. Buddy's S-6 fell off his...

I've got a 70 model 1895 Marlin. I got it on trade, it came with original partial box of ammo in the box. The guy I got it off of was complaining about the kick. I took the scope off and put a Lyman 66 on it. The only reason I kept it was because...

I had problems with some of the cheap target loads going under the extractor on single and SxSs. In both 20 & 12 Guage. These guns are tight and never had trouble with AAs or High Brass. The problem is the rim on the steel cases. My chambers are...

I agree, Bearcat is a well made little SA. I had extensive collection of Ruger SAs back in 3 screw days. Bearcat is more of a neat little plinker than anything else. A S-6 is more practical as a field gun. I carry a S&W 34 when goofing off in the...

I shoot 20:1 in all my S&Ws, being mostly WCs, except for one 25-5 that is tuned for 250 RnFp at 850fps, but still with same alloy.

I cut off several dies to be able to reach the crimp. Since they where going to be used for that purpose I took about 1/2 the die below crimp ring. When I cut off dies I use hack saw while turning and then face and polish, it's easier on bits. I...
