    since the 40's, maybe the early 50's anyway. if the epoxy is all dried out find an air spot in a tube and hit it with a torch for about 10 seconds. if it's tin it will start to sweat then crumble and melt quickly.

    pit it in some boiling water until the wax melts then turn off the heat and wait for the pot to cool down. get your clean wax off the top, the gunk off the bottom. you can weight some panty hose down with the wax in it and boil it that way too....
