    I think we are smelting. Its removing the impurities to get to the base metal...in our case the desired alloy being our base metal. Its all semantics...Not really important by any means. redhawk

    It looks normal to me. Most of our "boolit" alloys have antimony included. It makes the boolits harder but also can be brittle if dropped...it will show the grain structure like you posted. redhawk

    How about some roofers ice dam membrane on the front. It seals around roofing nails. It would likely hold back sand. It could be replaced easily too. You could even put a layer on the top to keep sand from "splashing" out from high hits. ...

    Here is the reason I melted mine into ingots. I make a 75-125# batch of alloy at a time. I find it easier to count ingots...and weigh them to make the alloy that I want. Once I get my alloy smelted/fluxed....this alloy gets poured into Corncob...

    I smelted down all my lino into ingots...For me its easy to store...and I have no intention of ever selling it. Anyway....give it some more heat....stir, stir, stir....flux with pine sawdust at least 3 times...keep stirring...then a marble size...

    BTW...I get rid of ground moles the same way...the small H-A-H trap mesh is too large and a mole can go in through the sides...so...with a CLOSED trap...I put a mouse trap inside with PB on the trigger. redhawk

    I cast both 340 and 400 Lee's....I am a huge fan of the H4198 powder. I keep my velocity in the 1200-1400 range. Its not too bad on the shoulder and it definitely takes down white tails. redhawk
