Lee makes a .309" 200gr mold and Lyman makes a 200gr mold in .311" and another in .314" (#311299 and #314299). To go heavier may require a custom mold. I have all three of the molds I listed and they work very fine in my Lee-Enfields, Mosin-Nagant...

Ben's Red and BLL does it for me. It's one of the main reasons i use them. Even if i clean the bll. to the bare metal, (which i rarely do anymore) i can use one damp atf oil patch through the bore, followed by one dry patch, and my first shot...

That definitely isn't a Lott that North Star made. All North Star locks have always been made in-house. No idea of the maker. The flint is pointed too high, needs to be pointing at the pan. If a flint needs back further in any gun, I cut a...

Does the flint point at the center of the pan when in fired position? I'm thinking your frizzen may need hardened. That's a lot of wear for just a few shots.

If you spend as much time grooming it after it is wet as a mink or beaver does, it should be just fine. I will say, make it and take it to a shoot, you will immediately be branded as a flat land pilgrim. Wait a minute. Black polyester thread?...

Do you mean the venturi pipe as that is an inch into a 2 in coupling in the forge. I am taking the burner to the welding shop when I go up country on tuesday as it is not passing enough gas to get a decent heat going so will see if I have a faulty...

Stick with .45-70. To see why, price the .45 Basic brass for a .45-100.

I have had very good blades from farriers rasps, take them to non magnetic and quench in 130 degree canola oil then temper at 185 degrees (C) for 2 hours. This makes for a good edge holding blade that is not hard to keep a keen edge on. I got the...

Sad to see the cracked wrist on it, all too common with older doubles. We were looking at an English .500 Express double rifle Gary James had at our shoot a couple weeks ago. Very delicate wrist, and surprising it has stood up over the years.

The fire extinguisher quench tank had its top cut off and a lid made but there is still a couple of handles to be done for the sides for when it needs to be shifted. With a 3 1/2 gallon capacity it should do nicely. The steady rest was welded...
