    My only suggestion is to cut something like 1/2” off the barrel and try finishing it as you describe. If your first cut is at 16” you won’t have a second chance. I’ve never done a front sight, but I think you’d want to drill for the new site...

    I would say in a box, and with tape, good tape. Seriously, if you’re asking if you must use an overnight service, I don’t honestly remember if that is required for c&r items.
