Herco is a great over looked powder. Remember Alliant cleaned their powder line up and the are not as dirt as they once were. It's interesting to note that in some instances there is data where you load more of Unique then the Herco. That strikes me...

You really can ignore the "wrong powders, wrong bullet weights" if you use a Schuster adjustable gas plug within reason! They have them for the M1A's too.

You are correct you can load any number of shells from 1 to 7 and it's not that hard. Once you learn it's easy. Another thing too, some Garand, not all, you can load an 8 round enbloc, don't let the action close, then place a loaded round in the...

Larry I hope you are not referring to that the Lewis Machine & Tool company had anything to do with the Lewis Machine Gun of WWI days. LMT was founded in 1980 to provide the U.S. Military, law enforcement, and government agencies with high quality...

Padding and baffles absorb the sound reflections and therefore reducing the overall average Reverb time. Suppressors reduce the gas pressure and let it escape into the atmosphere more slowly at a much lesser pressure. It does nothing for the sonic...

You should repost your question under Factory Rifles. You'll get responses there. I've never owned one but I liked the ones I have shot. Not super accurate but good enough for hunting is what I gather.

About 18-1900 fps would be my guess, a semi educated guess, but a guess nonetheless.

The 223/556 appears to kill wild boar pretty efficiently. They're pretty tough critters.

We're not using fmj on deer, Doug. And all across our state hundreds of deer drop from a .223 55 gr. JSP like a hammer hit them. I've personally only killed six with a .223. They died instantly. I prefer bigger calibers but if the law allows it a...

Allison wasn't real happy that Merlins were used in the P-51 and later on developed an engine that actually would blow the doors off the Merlin. It was too late of course so the rest is history. I've read where the Merlins had to be worked on all...

Get him a Smith and Wesson AR-15 for around $500. Then spend the rest of the money on ammunition to improve his skill-set. I have seen and known lots of youngsters with AR-15s that are all tricked out and they can't shoot worth a flip. Don't over...

The ball powder got the velocity the Army wanted. I'm sure they got a good deal on it too. At the time the original stick couldn't match the ball powder, but later on it did when they changed the type.

When you are levering the barreled action in the stock on a M1 Carbine there should be just a little tension before it is fully bedded. As you know all that holds it in the action is the hook on the rear of the action and the barrel band up front....

OS OK this is off topic some, but I'll touch on it. Yes you are correct about the chroming. Here's what I understand. McNamara didn't want to chrome the chambers and bores because of cutting cost, even though he was told it needed to be done. With...

We all know the reason's for the problems with the M16 in VN, or at least should know them. If you want to put the blame on someone (not an inanimate thing like an M16) put the major portion of it on McNamara. He's the one that had corners cuts and...
