Well if you have a 30-06 or plan on getting one, there isn't anything wrong with it. You could use it on any game in North America, just choose the right bullet for the job. Usually all of these newfangled cartridges are to solve one problem or...

I would just use drill rod and make a new one. Maybe harden the tip some. It may not need it.

I was reading some articles about the 300 Ham'r and it seems that to get the performance they are touting, it has to be generating chamber pressures of 60,000 psi or more. That doesn't bode well for case life and reloading. Plus the locking lugs on...

I think that few stores stock the .32's in the store. You usually have to order them from the store's online website and pick them up at the store. I think it is down to Ruger and Charter Arms making them to sell. Mostly .327 Federal and .32 H&R at...

My box of vintage 9mm Steyr ammo did not have a stripper clip included. But I found that a 5.56 Nato stripper clip fits just fine.

I suspect it has to do with lead or brass ringing the chamber at the end of the case mouth. When you fire a gun, there can be a buildup of lead or bullet jacket residue at where the case mouth ends in the chamber. A ring of the stuff can build up...

My example works OK, it feeds and fires just fine. But I couldn't get 30 rounds in the magazine. Those last few go in really hard and the cases can get dented. So I don't try to load it to capacity. 27 or 28 rounds works for me.

Are there any markings on it? Serial numbers, proof marks, maker's marks, etc? Here is some general history about them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield_Model_1861

Well since you stated a budget pistol, then there is always the Hi-Point .45 auto pistol. Some people think it looks ugly though. But the guns are quite reliable and hang in there taking all sorts of abuse and still work. You can sometimes find...

I would suggest getting cartridges already made from Buffalo Arms ref https://www.buffaloarms.com/8x52r-siamese-mauser-175-grain-spitzer-soft-point-ammunition-box-of-20-amo852r You can make cartridges from other types such as reforming .45-70...

Yes I have built several ARs from parts. You get to pick and choose what parts you want to use for everything that way. It is great fun actually. I enjoy doing it. Legos for adults.

Don't buy them unless the guns are going for a really really low price.

Interesting. I do have some caliber inserts myself. Mine are single shot types. They do make quite a few different types and calibers for many different guns. I sort of like the cartridge setup so you can operate the action and keep on firing...

I think that there are still some exceptions. Always wear eye protection. Some gas blowby will still happen even with a gun that has some protection in place.

Basically, for the AR15 derivatives, it is any caliber that stays within the 5.56 NATO maximum overall length, from .17 on up to .50 caliber will work with it. I like the .450 Bushmaster for short range big game hunting, brush woods, especially...

I do not remember having any problems like that with mine. But it may just be the magazine lips need to be pushed in very very slightly to help keep the next cartridge from trying to feed in too. I would also suggest going to the Model 8 forum and...

i can't say what the thread size is on the screws but they look like this one here. There is also a leaf spring used to lock the anti-aircraft sights in place. That tends to be the really hard thing to find. One could make the screws on a lathe....

I have been interested in them, but I haven't done anything yet. But I would do it just because I get to machine it and put together a gun myself. Something like a hobby, where I can say I made it myself. I tend to like to make things myself.

About Earlwb
Biography:
I started hunting and using guns when I was about 10yoa. I have been doing it ever since, sometimes with a hiatus for a while though. I first got into reloading when I was 16yoa with a 7.65 Argentine Mauser and a 12 ga shotgun. I really enjoyed that too. I do have quite a few bullet molds that I have acquired over the years and I cast many bullets myself to be used.
