If I were to build one, (and I just might) I would try to use a very common casing. The cut down 223 case looks very promising. I don't know the prices and availability of most brass. I think that a 45 colt would also be a good case for it. Or a 44...

Hi guys, Does anyone here have the thread dimensions for an old CH Swage-O-Matic? I have a press but no dies for it. I am going to be needing to use for some of the operations in swaging 22lr, So I have to make dies for it. It is packed away so I...

My first deer. I had just turned 13. Was using a Model 1917 30-06. My dad dropped off my buddy (also 13) and me at a field on the side of a hill. He drove around to another hill about 1/2 mile away. I walked up to the top of the hill (about 500...

I am swaging 40 grain 22lr bullets from 9-10 bhn lead. I use them in reloading 22lr and for loading some of the Eley primed 22lr cases that I have. They come out really nice. I use a very small amt of Lee case lube for swaging them. I do not want...

Traffer replied to a thread Scope for .22 in Rimfire Area
I know very little about scopes. I was kind of forced to use a 1" tube scope on a Savage MK II because the base mount was for a standard 7/8" or 22 MM Weaver dovetail mount. My other 22's have either 3/8" dovetails or tip off type drilled and tapped...

As long as we are on the subject of scopes. I am a casual shooter. I have used 4x and 6x scopes on the 22 rifles that I have. I bought a 3x9 because my eyes are really that bad now. This is a $30 scope with an adjustable parallax. It sure enables me...

That is different than mine. Maybe an older (and better) model. I would go with the Simmons 8 point scope. But others may disagree. I believe that is a 1" scope so you would need special mounts to mount it on the 3/8" rails which are made for a 3/4"...

As there is no need for anything different than a basic mount the #24 is all you need. If you want to make the scope higher you can use those elevated scope ring mounts that attach on top of the mount. I don't know the correct term for them except...

When you get yours check to see if it is drilled or if it has cuts in it. If it is drilled it does take a Weaver NO. 24 mount. Actually two of them. I think I bought a packet of two for like $6 at a place that sold that stuff. When you put those on...

A word of Caution! The Savage MK II is drilled and tapped for a standard 1" scope mount. Don't buy a typical 3/4" 22 Rimfire Scope for it. You need a regular 1" Scope. I got a Tasco 3x9x40 "Pronghorn" Scope for mine for real cheap money. I am...

I bought 2 22 rifles in the past year and a half. One is a semi auto. Mossberg 702 Plinkster. Very reliable, accurate little gun. But I really don't care for semi-autos. I paid $99 for it NEW at WALMART. That was less than 2 yrs ago. They still...

I made them 1963 to 1965. As I recall car antenna's weren't even made from steel. I believe they were chrome plated brass. I never measured the diameter of the inside but a 22 short was quite sloppy but would chamber on the rim. Obviously they...
