I don't know exactly but my first thought was that they look like old Naval cannon rounds from WWII. I like it.

Don't know what it is but it looks like something disk shaped slides into those rails into the v shaped slot. It reminds me of a window crank handle tool for removing old style car window crank handles.

I quit collecting coins and silver about 7 or 8 years ago. Then they had some Buffalo head 1oz silver bullion rounds that were counterfeit from China but I didn't hear about anything else. Didn't really seem worth it to go the trouble to counterfeit...

I believe these are 1869 - 70 or thereabouts Quarter patterns. I don't know much about these type of coins. I just happened to see them on eBay and copied the pictures. They are called United States Pattern Coins. An author named J Hewitt Judd has...

When silver prices spiked to nearly $50 an ounce a few years ago, I sold off all of my old (scrap silver coins) Somebody paid me over $50 an ounce for the collection on eBay. I was shocked. But there is hysteria for you. Too bad it was only a couple...

If you and brstevns decide to go that route, I can PM you a deal on eBay that I have purchased for bolts that are long enough. They are hardened but I don't have any trouble machining them. I could even send you one on mine.

I don't think it even needs to be centered perfectly. Try just drilling a hole as close to center as you can and reaming a point forming die for yourself ...it would be good practice if it didn't work. That's how I learned to do stuff. Just tried...

The best thing to do is learn how to make a centered hole. You can buy good bolts on eBay for making dies for cheap. 10 bolts for $15

What kind of die will you make/use to "bump it up"? Won't you need a point forming die as well as a sizing die?
