I would have given her a 20 Ga...A twelve is a lot of gun for that sized kid. (Evidenced by the bruise on the cheek). I shot a 12 at that age but it is a lot to handle. It is exactly why God made 20's.

I think the problem is solved. Started using a different toaster oven and thermometer. One caveat: I had some coated smokes clear that turned out milky white instead of clear. I rebaked them with the better heat control but they stayed milky...

But what if I think you are ruining good pure lead by adding the impurities of antimony to it? I use soft lead. I have a bunch of hard lead. If I want to remove the antimony what is that to you? It can always be put back in. BAD ANTIMONY BAD. Only...

As far as contamination... The bullets were not quenched or touched by anything from mold to PC, except the soft cotton cloth I dropped them on out of the mold. There was no lube or release agent in the mold yada yada... The only other thing I can...

Well, this is what I found out: I had the built in temp control and an add on thermometer which were both in perfect sinc. When one was 350 so was the other. 400 was 400 on both. So I figured it was very unlikely that they would both be off the...

That .01 gram is .1 grain Again, 10X less sensitive than the better one in my video. You gotta watch that. The better ones are out there, and under $25. The will say .001 G. I see the exact one I have is available on eBay now for $14.99 delivered....

If you were careful, could you purposely skim the antimony to make the lead softer?

I bought two digital scales off of eBay. Both under $20. The first one measures hundredths of a grain. I would say it is accurate to about .02 of a grain. The other one I bought at the suggestion of people on youtube. It seems nicer BUT only...

Good pry bars are great tools. When I was young we figured we could move anything with the big ones. Wish I could still handle one.

Sounds like some very fine jigs you are doing there. What size are you making? Are they for Crappies? We use just painted lead head's with a minnow on them for walleyes. A minnow is almost essential for walleyes since they are mainly taste feeders.

I started working on a swaging die this morning. Patterning it after the Lyman 257420 mold. Going to make the bullets .258" with 11-12 bhn lead and of course powder coat...no gas check. It will take a week or so before I have some bullets.

I have never made "lead head jigs" because everybody and his brother makes them here in central Wisconsin. With that being said, I can tell you to use good hooks because you don't want your big walleyes to straighten out the hook on you. And If I...
