When I have a couple of hundred dollars to throw away, I'll certainly do that. Though I'd rather that NFA34 gets repealed, in which case I'll probably build my own. I'm not holding my breath waiting. I've spent enough time around jet engines,...

You'll still need ear protection. They do not actually silence, they just reduce the sound level 30 or 40dB. That's from around 190dB. Check out the VSO Gun Channel on Youtube, search "pillow" and find "Pillow vs Silencer: Is it a Hollywood Myth?"...

Have you found the old Yahoo Groups that moved to Groups.io? Lot of help and support there. Also, look for a guy whose Youtube username is Mr. Pete222, and check out his videos of using lathes, and many other tools. Guy used to be a HS shop teacher....

I can understand that! I've been machining a little longer. Bought my HF 7x10 in 2008, and was puttering along, when and as I could. Didn't get nearly as far as I thought I should, and was griping about it to SWMBO one day in December 2014, and she...

I must not have sent the "I'll take it on the lathe dogs" though I've gotten the reply to the PM. Or maybe I did it backwards. Or something... Oh well. As long as it all works. Bill

That was essentially my point. Lots of folks have thought it was real near the end doesn't make it so. We may have to wait until no one worries about it anymore, or it may happen before the end of this day, and in any case it will be a surprise.

yep. Most recent actual loss, never recovered, was also shipped from Ebay. Was scanned diagonally across the street from my place, but wasn't able to get that info until nearly 3 months later. Never showed up, and because it took so long to get...

It's kind of hard to tell. My 2nd stepfather thought very seriously that we were just before the Rapture in 1965. He was training my little brother and I to be his soldiers in the aftermath. I guess he didn't expect to be one of those Raptured. Here...

Every one of those kids was born after I retired. And I've outlived kids who worked with me when we were both on active duty, too. I'm feeling old and I'm only 65. Heck, a couple of my young cousins are now retired from the Army, both Iraq &...

I think you have too much blood in your caffeine system, but I'd suggest switching to Russian Caravan Tea. More caffeine per cup, so you can get really wired faster. ;)

I bought some reloading books here, and USPS took 4 days to go from the Daytona Beach, Fl, area to Jacksonville, Fl, maybe 100 miles straight up the coast. Once it made it to Jacksonville, another 3 or 4 days here to OKC. It was showing on track for...

A few years ago I shot a chronograph with a direct hit from my 35 Whelen. This time, same rifle, a gas check came off a 358 627 boolit and struck the screen on my new unit. This one died after only 3 trips to the range. This is getting expensive....

Buffalo Arms carries them, reformed from .32 S&W Long. Can be cut down to make .32 Colt Short. Out if stock right now. I bought 20 rounds from them for a couple of Steven's 32RF, one long, one short, that I'm working on converting to centerfire....

Buy a bottle of benadryl and carry on, or pack your stuff and git, depending on what you think your chances are. Personally, I won't live in a house without a harmless necessary cat. Or more. My 90lb dog identifies as a cat. I keep telling him he's...
