    As that coating is being pushed laterally with the Pb...I think it is uncovering uncoated Pb, then the gassing is vaporizing molecules of Pb that gets laid down on the barrel. Our PC method of coating I think has some stretching and forgiving...

    I think the VN problem was solved by chroming the inside of the barrel and chamber. If I remember, they would seize up overnight from humidity and having a round in battery. Not sure...but think so.
