Drew P replied to a thread Bismuth in 45 Colt? in Cast Boolits
Right, I get it when it’s a duck pond where it basically rains lead shot for 12 hours a day every day for years. That’s a promise that any ducks who happen to make it to the surface will gobble some lead and maybe fly away before being blasted. ...

I have it. It’s nice but I prefer the 135gr flat point mold he offers. The bevel base rn one is a little fat right around the case mouth where the flat point steps down a few mil.

I’m not a lee fan either but it sure is hard to beat the classic cast line of presses, like, real hard. However RCbS is gonna try with their new press just released! It’s bigger, everywhere, and has through ram primer handling. A good start! ...

Drew P replied to a thread Bismuth in 45 Colt? in Cast Boolits
As Tonto pointed out, a bit of shot in the meat of your supper isnít the same thing as a chicken who lays eggs and might have eaten a lead pellet in my yard. Not saying itís worse, might be better, but itís not a straight line of comparison. ...

I was doing fine with with the pins but I never felt totally comfortable with the “angels share”. This is the number of pins which are not accounted for after each batch of tumbling. Basically, there will always be a chance of a few pins making it...

Drew P replied to a thread Bismuth in 45 Colt? in Cast Boolits
I thought the whole reason bismuth and steel shot was invented was because they were finding high lead levels in ducks that frequent ponds used for hunting because they ate lead shot. Why is cali banning the practice of lead projectiles if that...

I have to flare some of my pistol a lot and if there’s a roll crimp that’s definitely hard on brass. So I’ve considered it and I have an annealer, but meh

whats wrong with one-shot? I use it a lot when sizing bullets. Give the pile a spray and it seems to keep everything happy without making things gummy.

Drew P replied to a thread Bismuth in 45 Colt? in Cast Boolits
Lead is harmful in the food chain as it moves into the bodies of animals and upstream to, eventually, humans. So, I have to somewhat disagree. I’d rather have lead paint on my house than little bits of lead around my yard where my chickens can get...

Drew P replied to a thread Bismuth in 45 Colt? in Cast Boolits
Iím playing around with lead free alloys at the moment and having some interesting findings. For one thing unlike lead which will shrink when it solidifies the bismuth tin alloys grow. So your bullets will be oversized by quite a lot. Also bismuth...

You guys crack me up. He doesn’t need help finding places to store it lol. I suggest that you buy some antimony and tin, and start casting for whatever pistols/slow rifles you shoot the most. See where that takes you. As far as molds, I think...
