I bet heating them a little with a torch would help them along too. Couple seconds maybe 150į or so. Can be a drag. This is one of the many reasons I love Dillon dies, the deprime stem is spring loaded and launches that thing out like a...

Well looking at the Lyman cast book there’s only one page of 223 and in the paragraph about these loads they state that they are not for gas operated guns. They then go on to say that it’s difficult to make gas op rifles work on cast loads. So,...

The MBF droppers are the best. They can’t not work. Unlike the piece of junk hornady design droppers that can’t work ever. You won’t be sorry.

Downloading always reminds me of reading about the dreaded SEE but I can’t remember if that risk exists when using pistol powders?

I thought it was something like 30į v block or something? I think the shim stock method would be very hard to get any decent results. I’d almost trust a drinking straw or something that was pre bent in a tube shape more. I made my own v block and...

Yes! Perfect. I was also thinking the 10lb on top would be best for a couple reasons. I think I’ll try this. I was wondering if the lower powered pot would have trouble keeping things flowing.

Yeah that’s the trick I guess to get the gas pressure up somehow which I don’t think you can do even with special powder unless you plug the barrel or ? So the auto pistols operate by the powder jet effect and maybe a weaker recoil spring?

Cool thanks. Yes that was on my list for a while to investigate those custom flare options. I usually try to use a ptx type thing but I’m guessing 22 cal is too small for that.

Either your mold is warped or more likely there’s something keeping the halves from mating up. Could be the pins or a small bit of lead that escaped somehow. Look for light.

So what speed range do you figure for a 1:7 twist barrel, and this is an 8.5” barrel also. I thought the high rate twist would be helpful in fact because I could run the sped lower and still keep it spun up well. I was thinking around 2000fps but I...

Oh also, I’d want to make these from 223 cases and fire them through the 300bo barrel, I can’t think of a reason this won’t be okay.

Okay I have a kooky idea. Some may not think this is safe, and I’m willing to listen to any concerns. I have an old 300bo barrel that I don’t have use for so I was thinking about making it into a blank firing setup, and then brewing up my own...

Right, and I surely won’t be, but to be honest I still kinda amazed that lead can even be pushed at the much lower velocities like 1900fps. Twisting 250,000 rpm and doing a 2 sec mile is impressive to me!

Yeah good point about just using two pots side by side instead, I have just done so much work to my 4-20 to make it perfect and it finally is so I’d hate to do all that again lol. As far as keeping the levels matched up that wouldn’t be a problem,...

I should add that part of my casting had expanded to 1lb dive weights and believe it or not they are much more sensitive to temp variation than bullets and also take a lot more lead obviously. That mold has a window of about 40į that must be kept...

In the quest for stable melt temps Iím considering adapting a second 4-20 pot on top of my 4-20 pot so that the top pot ore melts the lead, and the lower pot receives little doses of lead that will allow the final pot to stay more stable in temps. ...

Hereís how I did mine. Itís just on a long wire and a magnet on the other end so I can swing it out of the way easily and adjust itís position when needed. I donít really use it that much to be honest. The main problem is that to me, looking down...
