Another great set of responses from the resident 45 Colt experts! Thanks guys! For my personal use, I popped for the Redding dual-ring sizing die. I am most happy with it. The old steel die that I had did not play well with others. It is now...

Brownell's sells long piloted deep hole drills used to install barrel liners. I don't know if they can ship these to Canada. If not, your idea to solder a chucking reamer onto a long bar will work if you are careful.

Another vote for Bullseye and 1:30 alloy. I have used this in a Colt New Service M1909 for over 50 years. It also shoots well in my modern Rugers. The same basic parameters work in all of the .45s and .455s. In the .455 Mk1 with 0.87"...

Larry and I have had this conversation before, but the most accurate cast bullet .30 cal. barrels I have are all 14" twist. I shoot 200-grain bullets in them. So did John Ardito, who set many of the CBA benchrest group records. With lighter...

Thanks to a recent thread on using Evaporust to clean old moulds, I now have an Ideal 454190. I'm wanting to try a Binary mix, 20 or 40-1 and use Lee liquid Alox. I have a .454 Lee push through sizer to try as well as as- cast. If this works...

Do you have a depth mic or gage to measure the driven protrusion of the firing pin, or are you just eyeballing it and making a judgement? I don't recall what the protrusion spec. is for the M1 carbine, but on the M16 and M4 it is 0.028-0.032" so...

Your STANAG drawing sourced online is probably a newer revision than my paper copy, which dates from the early 1960s. The Beretta M9 I used to have had the ball seat and throat I described.

Beretta doesn't have a SAAMI chamber, but a CIP chamber which resembles the one in NATO Standardization Agreement 4090. This has a cylindrical freebore 9.1mm in diameter and 3mm long with a 5 degrees Basic forcing cone. So size .358"

For timed and rapid-fire Camp Perry style bullseye competition 4.5 grains of 452AA or WST with H&G68 is the Go-To Load. For 50-yards slow fire to better buck the wind adjust charge to 830 +/-30 fps. about 4.8 grains of WST or 5.2 of W231 To...

Rechamber barrel to NATO chamber in accordance with STANAG 4090 and it will accept .358" cast bullets. FNGPs and Berettas sold to the Euro market already have this chamber. The SAAMI-dimensioned chamber is too tight!

When I worked at Ruger in the 1980s the Clymer de-leading reamer was used with Brownell's Do-Drill and was the Go-To method. When ultrasonic cleaners became available, that was the final step before returning to the customer.

Doesn't need to be quick release, but easily changible, S&W or Bowen type with set screw would be fine, or you may have another idea. A 16" twist in the rifle would have interesting possibilities with a heavy bullet subsonic. Something around 250...
