I want to try open sights. I've been doing scoped for a long time but now the iron sight bug has bitten me. I wasn't too bad with open sights once upon a time. Trouble is, I won't know if me, my load or my gun that is doing poorly. If I do...

Mould sold to BrassMagnet. I removed both of the gas check shanks on this mould. Saves your time and $ on gas checks. A fine bullet in many different .30 cal. cartridges. The bullets drop at .3125" with clip on WW's. 3 day inspection for...

Having been both a forensic firearms witness and a homicide investigator for a long time, most of what is posted above is pretty good info. In homicide cases--which are thoroughly and vigorously defended--a prosecutor better have a whole lot more...

I had a look at one of my No4's this afternoon. This gun is a potential target shooter given that the throat is tight enough to seat bullets out to actually touch the leade. The bore maybe not so much but I don't trust bore condition to be such a...

I could never cold bloodedly kill a man as in premeditated murder so I have difficulty even contemplating how I might do it. Self defence - Now that's different kettle of fish. I was prepared to kill more than once when I thought my life was...

Here is a pic of my process for reducing 223rem down to 30 cal. The process is the same with the 9mm case. The process is a little slow and labor intensive but the results are perfect and repeatable. I don't do more then about .025 in reduction at a...

BT Sniper replied to a thread lubing cases in Swaging
If one uses lanolin for deriming it is best to be sure it is all removed from the brass before tumbling in media. I used to use mineral spirits but no longer enjoy the smell. I have heard others here report that woolite fabric cleaner works well to...

BT Sniper replied to a thread lubing cases in Swaging
Before I had a tumbler I would coat the inside of a Ziploc bag with lube then add clean brass and kneed with hands to distribute lube. This worked well too. Not really any wrong way to apply lube, just make sure you use enough and that it is all...

Annealing after deriming. Use whatever lube you wish for deriming. Only use quality swage lube for core seat and point form swaging. I now like to use RCBS case lube II for deriming only because it is so easy to rinse clean with only water....

303Guy replied to a thread .41 Mag Single Shot in Military Rifles
Being me I would use a Lee Enfield action. I'm sure it would work as a single shot with no mods at all. It might even feed from the mag. One trick is to use a mag with no innards. Spent cases just drop in - very handy. But then I would probably...

You've already got a 35 whelen, so probably already have the dies for it. The 338-06 would either take custom or very expensive dies. It might not be a consideration for others, but it would be for me.

Cordite is interesting stuff. If one pulls the b*llit and strikes the primer (from a safe distance), it goes off with a bang - just like a blank. A load bang I might add. If the case is not secured I would imagine it would fly back at you with...
