Are you a beginning reloaded, caster, or just new to cast 9mm? What diameter were the 120 gr. bullets? 1.05 is starting to get pretty short, but you can go a little shorter assuming you are using starting charges. If the round chambers, but...

Your post makes it sound like you believed 1.169 was the recommended OAL for 9mm. 1.169 is the Max SAAMI OAL. The reloading manuals state the OAL they were using. Seating a bullet deeper will result in more pressure. Often times people are using...

1.169 isn't the recommended OAL, it's the max OAL for 9mm. No hollow point or truncated cone will work at all 1.169. Most bullets with that kind of profile will be 1.1 or less. For some bullets 1.05 is the max.

I learned that MiHec 8 cavity molds can knock out a lot of quality bullets very quickly. I picked up 2 of them this year and they have been nice additions to my mold collection. Great for 9mm rounds that seem to devour bullets very quickly.

I don't believe there's any definitive rule. As long as the rounds chamber and shoot with acceptable results you're doing it right. You can have light crimps, moderate crimps and heavy crimps. Any one of them could be correct depending on the...

reddog81 replied to a thread pressure concerns in Cast Boolits
2-3 grains in bullet weight difference is insignificant. 4-5 grains is starting to matter but can still basically use the same data assuming the bullets are the same shape. Personally I might back load down if shooting out of a lightweight snub...

There's no need to clean with acetone. There's no need to preheat to 140 for 4 minutes before swirling if using the appropriate materials. For me the long part of the process is individually placing each bullet onto the tray. I'm sure I could...

Parts can be found at Numerich AKA gunpartscorp.com however those parts generally come from "parts guns" and won't necessarily be in any better condition than the well used parts on your gun. They won't sell you broken parts but there's no...

I bought $100 worth of random stuff this morning from their site. The deals on some of the RCBS reloading items are crazy. I got 4 small pistol primer tubes for under $8 total. They are normally like $10+ each. I got a couple of random seating...

With handguns the balistics aren't so much the problem, however the ability to hit what you're aiming at is much more difficult. Most people have trouble hitting a 8.5" x 11" piece of paper at 50 yard with a handgun. It's much easier to shoot a...

It sounds like you got it figured out so hopefully everything is fine. If it happens agin try and figure out if the bullet is sticking or if the brass is sticking. The brass can stick if it's not sized all the way down or if the belling from the...

Anchor the press to a wooden board that can be clamped to your kitchen table. Brass will dry out in a day or two depending on humidity levels. I just rinse mine off and let it sit on a towel in my basement. If I need to ensure that it's dry in...

What are you hoping to gain by lubing? The powder coating should prevent leading on it's own if done correctly. I can't imagine it'll hurt anything, but I don't think you'll see any benefit.

Buying stuff used is always a gamble, but I've found most people to be trust worthy. If you buy 10 items used for half the price you would have otherwise paid you're still coming out ahead even if 1 or 2 of the deals ends up being a bust.

Even if it was refinished that's one heck of a deal and it wasn't look refinished from what I can tell of those photos. You could easily double what you paid. If someone offered me that gun for $1600 I'd be interested.

SWC's can work in 9mm's. H&G 275 is a good one. It's basically a 9mm copy of the H&G 68 45 ACP. I'd be more concerned with shooting real soft swaged bullets in 9mm. Gas checking and powder coating should eliminate leading, but I've never had any...
