I'm glad Colt is expanding their lineup. Hopefully it'll be less than a year before they introduce the next model and maybe the next model can be something other than a blacked out DAO version of the 1 revolver in their line-up.

Take a .38 special bullet with a bearing surface of .44" as an example. You will have a front driving band with a length of .07, crimp groove length of .05, middle band length of .085, lube groove length of .10 and the last full diameter band will...

Those look like some large wheel weights. If the weights are new couldn't you just use them with out smelting them down? That looks like one heck of a score. Any idea on the total weight?

I was in Germany for the first time last year and in some stores you had to hunt for water that didn't contain carbonation. We bought the carbonated water a couple of time on the trip and ended throwing it out. I can't imagine drinking that stuff....

I don't want any leading. A little leading leads to moderate leading which leads to heavy leading if not cleaned. If you go to the range and put 100 rounds down range and clean the gun afterwards with a little leading it's not a big deal but...

The way I understand it to work is that Linotype is a Line Of Type - as pictured in post #1 Monotype is a single letter. Spacers are blank slabs of lead with nothing on them. I purchased a couple of containers full of Linotype and Spacers last...

I'd guess a temperature problem. I don't think a small amount of contaminants makes much of a difference. I have baked bullets after sitting in my basement for months. I have 3 large dogs in the house and everything gets covered in dust/fur. ...

reddog81 replied to a thread 380 Brass too large? in Cast Boolits
.380 is way too large for the mouth. The finished rounds should be around .373. Your seating did or crimp die should be removing the belling. It's possible you short stroked the press and the rounds in question didn't get that step. 115...

Oil is at a 3 year high. Saudi Arabia was recently attacked and intercepted some missiles fired from Yemen rebels and discourse in Syria could cause some major problems in the area. Neither of these issues has had much actual impact but the fear...

At the point where you've spent $100's on primers and $1,000's on powders does it really matter if you have to eventually buy a new barrel or gun?

Depends on the gun. I got the 3 spring pack and the lightest spring would misfire about once per every 6-12 rounds. Tried the middle spring and it worked 98% of the time. I tried the heaviest spring worked 100%, and its still lighter than...

It depends on what your definition of "on he heels" is. Warm 10mm loads are always going to have the edge on higher velocities but 45 ACP isn't too far behind.

I usually cast, powder coat and size within a couple days. I figure it's easier to size the bullets while they are at the softest point. I'm not saying it's the best option but it works for me. I'll be interested to see what others say. ...

Is the leading just in the forcing cone? Are you sure it's leading? Are the barrel and cylinder correctly aligned.

You'll never be able to tell the difference and the gun will never be able to tell the difference. Just shoot them. If you want to be safe drop the powder charge down .1 or .2 grains.

4.0 is a pretty light load of Bullseye and 1.272 is a pretty long OAL. I've shot a 100's of rounds between cleaning using 4.3 grains Bullseye and similar bullets with a slightly shorter OAL. There are dozens of powders that will work in 45 ACP...

Get an auto indexing progressive press. You only touch the brass once and it advances the brass from station to station automatically each time you pull the handle. It's still possible to screw up the process, but once everything is setup the...

Don't worry about the crimp. Seat as far out as you can. Try sizing .309. Try a faster powder like 2400 if that has Ben successful before. I wouldn't hesitate to try changing multiple variables at once if the original load is terrible. ...
