Last time around(2013-2014) primers weren't too hard to find. I could call around and find some anytime I tried. You couldn't be picky about brand and might have to buy magnum primers, but they were easy to find. Handgun powder on the other...

That scale is really, really, really low for the regulars on this forum. I go the range 2 or 3 times per month and shoot 300 to 400 rounds each time. Each of the last 4 years I've shot 7,000 to 8,000 rounds. Those figures do include rimfire...

I generally prefer the sweet spot that the cartridges were developed for or slightly on the heavy side. 124 to 140 for 9mm 140 to 158 for .38 Special 200 to 210 for 45 ACP 180 to 200 for .300 Blackout. That covers about 90% of my shooting.

On the other hand you could have been stuck with a bunch 2nd hand components that nobody wants. Just one year ago manufacturers were running rebates and retailers were running sales because nobody was buying reloading supplies. It's impossible to...

I was at Scheels yesterday and at least half the powders were sold out. Probably closer to 75% sold out. Looked at Powder Valley's website a couple days ago and the selection of Alliant and Hodgdon powders were minimal. Vihtavouri powders were...

Factories using just in time inventory doesn’t mean a thing if you do your part and buy enough in advance to keep shooting. I don’t understand how someone can complain about factories using JIT models if they are doing the same thing and only...

Much cleaner to load and shoot. Get the exact right size of bullet isn’t quite as important. The start up cost is less. The only downside to PC’ing is that it takes a smidgen longer to setup the bullets for baking. If you’re getting leading...

One of the key elements of the Heller decision was the fact that handguns are in such ďcommon useĒ that the DC limitations were unconstitutional. The glaring problem with this is that it anything not in common use can be consider unconstitutional. ...

reddog81 replied to a thread Ammo ?? in Our Town
When there's absolutely nothing else to buy everyone gobbles up whatever is in stock. Rifle hunting ammo was the last to go, but alas here we are. I'm not sure why it is hard to believe... Most manufactures probably only schedule 1 or 2 runs...

Hard to guess at what they'll do over time. Anything is possible... The thing that worries me is that 3 out of 4 primer brands are made by one outfit. Hopefully they keep production in separate locations to avert a complete collapse in supply...

CCI and Federal are owned by Vista Outdoors. Vista Outdoors also just bought out the Remington ammo line so I imagine they'll get the primer making business. That leaves Winchester as the only other US based primer manufacturer other than Vista...

One of the problems with selling guns is that the value can vary significantly depending on how much effort you put into it. A bunch of good pictures and accurate description can make $100’s of dollars in difference on an auction. How soon you...

This is a possibility and hard to tell. Load up a couple dummy rounds with no powder or primer to test and see if there's a flinch or "push" Load up a magazine without looking or have someone else load it for you so you have no idea when they are...

I tried Unique with 5 and 6 grains with a 200 grain bullet and got right around 1000 and 1100 FPS respectively. I need to chrono 5.5 grains Unique but that it was I’ve been using lately.
