I've not used BP in this rifle. I don't compete formally anymore, and all of our shooting is just for fun. Besides, I have LOTS of WC872! The bullet is the Lee hollow base, powder coated, unsized wheel weights.

You can use a gas checked design sans gas check, but at much lower velocity than 2,300fps. People generally report good accuracy when omitting the gas check at speeds less than 1,600fps, all else being equal. OTOH, there's no harm in trying is...

Plug the muzzle and point it to the floor. Fill with Hoppies or the Benchrest formula all the way up the barrel. Let it sit muzzle down for a couple days then empty the barrel into a bucket. Now run a brush up and down then follow with some patches....

Call around and find a shop with a waterjet . No heat to worry about and will be a 5 minute job with 4.95 minutes being the set up and clamping the part in a fixture .

I got one press out of the remains. The box was soaked and pieces falling out of it when I got it, and I think half of what you put in was gone. I did get a press put together with the standard die turrent I had. (half the holes useless, don't...

I had four culls , mostly cosmetic, from the batch of Lee 358- 158 RF that I cast for my son yesterday, so I decided to try two to see if they'd pass the plunk test in my Ruger LC9s Pro. I flared four pieces of brass and without adjusting anything...

I keep saying someone, with a shop, needs to make a bolt on lever mecanism for the Lee pots, that adds a spring to it. Something like this valve/lever assembly made to bolt to the top of a Lee pot, would fix the drip. I'd also lap the valve, and...

Sounds like the larger amount of tin you have in that mix makes the bullet much harder than you need, plus the as-cast diameter is probably a thou or 2 larger than the wheelweight bullets. Try putting a lubed bullet through the sizer every 5 rounds...

My son put one together and loves it. I've been out of touch somewhat, but the last time I went to the range there was a young man and his female companion shooting one at the end of the bench from me, maybe 30 feet or so away. I didn't realize the...

Every step is an inspection point. While I no longer have a .45 anything, I did use those with the sp primers for woods walking. And remember, you can use a sr primer in them without any problems.

I just put a touch of beeswax on my 6 cavity molds after they get good and hot, and leave the boolits in while I'm doing it. I made the mistake once. Synthetic oil doesn't do well for me with the Lee molds, but works with my steel molds....

I have two, a 10 and a 20 pound pot. The smaller pot I used to use for casting pure lead. It is VERY old, and works fine. The bigger pot isn't quite as old, but it's far from new. Two years ago I was ready to throw it into the river, as it started...

I put my loaded ammo into the plastic boxes from Midway, Plano , MTM or whoever. When I fill them up I start looking for empty 20 round boxes for my 30/30 A.I. to fill. I ran out of brass for it last week. 30-06 A.I. is the same. 9mm I have a...

SAAMI MAP for the 32 S&W is 17,000 psi. The lower psi for the 32 S&WL is lower in deference to the blowback Walther GSP target pistol. The 32 H&R is held low in deference to the H&R revolver. The Ruger revolvers are much stronger. Tested loads are...

Edited, I put down a kicker that had been recommended to me. The 4064 does shoot dirty, but groups under 1.5". The other kicker was at 4"+. 46 gr. WC 872, 5.5 gr. 4064. 405 gr. Gov. bullet.

If you keep your velocity under 1250 FPS, you can avoid the transonic inaccuracies at midrange, usually around 700-750 yards. Trajectory may not be as flat, but those mid range targets can put you in the money at a competition. Air cooled wheel...

Μολὼν λαβέ; approximate Classical Greek pronunciation [molɔ̀ːn labé], Modern Greek [moˈlon laˈve]), meaning "Come and take them" is a classical expression of defiance reportedly by King Leonidas in response to the Persian army's demand that the Spartans surrender their weapons at the Battle of Thermopylae.
