Indian Joe, I should have said mods to a carbine, that is, I made it into a rifle. The carbines are notoriously difficult to get to shoot well and consistent, although they can be improved upon. The correct shooting technique with the carbine will...

Bent rims. Put the cartridge in the shell holder and chuck it up in a drill. I use the lee case length gauge trimmer shell holder and lock stud. You will soon see if the rim is bent.

I would suggest marking the cases each with their runout, and also the high points on the necks. Segregate the brass into relative runout amounts, and shoot them. Then resize as before and check the runouts again. They should be the same amount as...

Bird replied to a thread 348 win in Case Forming / Re-forming
Brownells UK is worth a look at . They are expensive compared to their USA prices, about double I think. I would guess that anything they have in the USA, can be shipped to their UK branch. If you can buy 20 rounds loaded for $65 equivalent, then...

Starline have not made any 348 brass yet. They are due to start production soon I think, and they also sell to dealers who resell in smaller amounts. Most arms related equipment is regulated federally when being shipped out of the USA. Gun Broker...

348 brass can not be made from 45-70 brass. Look on gun broker for brass. Around $2 a piece. Lee 45-70 she'll holder works for 348. Other companies use different holders for brass.

Check your load data resources first. I went up to 22grns of imr4198. 18,19 grn loads all turned in about 3''@100yds. Imr4895 turned in the smallest groups for me, 2''@100yds.

Yes. Good results with the 30-30 in a octagon lever action 94 win with a 10 twist barrel. May even be better in 12'' twist barrel. Using clip on wheel weights bullets drop from mould at 0.310+, I size to 0.310 and use Ben's red lube. Bullets come...

Bird replied to a thread lee collet dies in Reloading Equipment
It depends on what you mean by better. Better accuracy, not always, as that may be dependent on neck tension and thus mandrel diameter. You may still have to bump the necks back with a full length size die occasionally. The collet dies will save...

Sounds like you are losing too much heat through the base of the mold. Keep it in the lead pot before pouring, and drop the pot temp back down to 725 deg or so.
