You will enjoy shooting the 50-70. To me the cartridge looks like a GIANT 22 rimfire but has a considerable thump. Jedman

Jedman replied to a thread Savage 99 in 25-35 in Leverguns
I agree with those telling you to buy it and not restore it. 25-35 was made in much lower numbers than other calibers and should make it worth more in original condition. I own several 99's and I did refinish one of them and now wish I had not done...

Stopped at a local candy store just to look. Found a Sears branded version of the Ithica M 49 rifle. I have a small collection of boys 22 rifles and this was a popular gun when I was a young kid. I really can't see well enough to shoot iron...

Jedman replied to a thread What lever guns to get? in Leverguns
No one mentioned Savage 99's. They are different in many ways but still a pure levergun. Also as a investment they are certainly better than money in the bank. Jedman

I have one in 45 Colt and have no problems. Very similar to loading a 22 with a magazine tube but the tube is larger and sturdier on the Henry. Jedman

I bought a M 1873 Werndl rifle a few years ago at a small mom and pop antique store and tore it apart to see what was missing ,broken ect. The barrels bore was to bad to work with, the stock was cracked in several places the cleaning rod missing...

Jedman replied to a thread 44-40 Stub job in "The Barrel Works"
Before you cut that shotgun barrel off think of this option. I have done over 20 liner in a shotgun barrel to make single shot rifles. Mostly from H&R shotguns and the topper is the best of them as it has the slim barrel profile already. You can...

I recently found a small brake cylinder hone that could be used to hone some of the choke out. It is adjustable down to 1/2" and expands to at least 1". I bought it on eBay and it was only about $12 with free shipping. Run it with a drill motor...
