Jedman replied to a thread Midland Backpack in Single Shot Guns
I found a small mom and pop gunshop that were selling these for $ 99 and took a look at them. I am not in the market for something like this but for the price they looked good. Jedman

A friend of mine took a M 95 and made a single shot 445 SM from it. He reworked the stock to where you would never imagine the modern style he crafted from it could be done. Anyway he fired full power handloads from it and had no problems. A member...

I work a lot with major brand take off barrels and out of DOZENS of them I have yet to see even 1 where the bore is within .005 concentric to the OD. Many are .020 + when indicating the OD while the chamber and muzzle are between centers. I turn...

I too am a former sling shootist. Still own a couple that need new bands, can't get rid of stuff like that. One shot that stays sharp in my memory is knocking a pidgeon out of the air with a marble and leading it just like wing shooting and...

Today I got my tax filed, a scope mounted on a rifle and did some acraglas bedding on a homemade forend . Also loaded a few 256 WM and shot them from a handi rifle barrel I built recently. Started raining so had to go indoors and look at guns and...

For what I can find online you can make your 8 X 58 R brass from 8 X 56 R brass and will not need to turn the rim to fit, the brass will probably be about 2 mm short but that's better than using 45-70. Grafs has the 8 X 56 R PPU brass on sale now...

Jedman replied to a thread 35 rem in Factory Rifles
There is a local LGS near me that has a older model 760 in 35 Rem. On the rack for $ 299.00. It is well used and has been D&T for a side mounted scope mount and has a Bushnell scope on it. I see them in 35 Rem. quite often and the usually range...

Seems to me that using 360 DW is a waste of expensive brass. I just formed a bunch of 256 WM brass from 357 mag brass and all of it needed trimming to get to 1.280" so you must be trimming Something like a 1/8" of the neck ? I also formed some...

Another easy test for headspace is just fire a normally sized case with just a primer in the gun. If you have excess headspace the ejected case will have the primer proud from the case bottom. Jedman

I just sold 2 rifles and a shotgun and guess some of the money had to go back in to my guns. I bought 2 Star BM pistols from J&G just to keep when the surplus dries up. Funny in over 50 years of buying, selling and trading several hundred guns...

I see no problem with a screw stud for the rear of the stock if installed right it wount pull out. For the front they make barrel band style metal swivels that clamp on and work well. Another idea looking at the pic of your stock it looks like it...

Hi Andy, For what these cost I would say you have a couple of options, CVA makes several models of single shots in 35 Rem. If you don't mind the plastic stocks. For similar money you should be able to find a NIB or used H&R handi rifle in 35 Rem....

I use I 4227 in my 45 Colt rifles and believe it's one of the best powders as you don't need to load it to maximum pressures to get it to burn well or give good accuracy. In the 1873 I would stay near the 14 K loads give or take a grain or two...

I once had a wildcat that was formed on 30-30 brass and the neck would need about a 1/2" trimmed off. I took a block of hardwood and drilled a row of holes about the size of the necks then opened up the backside to where the large part of the case...

I have one in a M 57 M which is the 22 magnum. I also have wanted a M 62 if I ever found one priced good. There is a gun store near me now that has a M 57 in 22 LR at a good price and I am trying my best not to go get it. Jedman

I also had a small framed Greener takedown martini in 32-20/ 310 but I made a D bit reamer so it has no shoulder and is a true strait wall. In a weak moment I let someone buy it from me and now miss it. Jedman
