why not get a lesser caliber and get the barrel and chambered rebored? that's how i went from .40-65 to .45-70 and got a better chamber and rifling to boot (better cartridge, too!). ain't expensive at all. go call bobby hoyt in PA!

heating a brass case to red is its kiss of death and not good for the shooter, either. to help learn what brass heated color is best, paint a stripe of 475* tempilaq on the case body and observe the change of color to both the neck and body.

i'm toying with the idea of a utilitarian .44mag s/s rifle such as the cva hunter, stick on a cheap scope, and building bp greaser and PPB cartridges. no particular use in mind, just interesting to me and prolly just fer plinkin' fun.

looks as if the differences with these cartridge cases is just their length. so, can a revolver or rifle chambered for .44 magnum also safely accept a .44 russian and .44 special? if so, are there any other concerns?
