That's kinda nice. It gets around the normally used side mount, and really doesn't look bad at all. I wonder about the balance, though. I think any good rifle smith could do your job. Is the barrel you have already equipped with the scope mount...

I've picked up .308 brass with flute marks on ranges, apparently fired in HK rifles, reloaded it and fired it in an Israeli K98k bolt action without problems. Even after 2 reloadings the flute marks diminish but are still plainly visible.

This is a really great post, Gregorious, and thanks for posting it. It doesn't answer all of the questions and statements that have been made it this thread, but the links do provide great information for any collectors or shooters interested in S&W...

Sometimes we conceive of a project and it's just hard to get it out of our minds. Kind of like "It is technically feasible, and I know I can do it, so why shouldn't I do it?" I've fallen into this trap before, and I think you're sliding down the...

I'm glad things are working out for you. Prayer works, doesn't it. I hope things continue to look up for you and your daughter. Maybe these fires won't be such a problem next year, as lots of timber has already burned up!

That's kind of a hard one to answer precisely, because there are too many variables. Which handgun cartridge are we talking about, and what load? I can only answer from limited experience in exchanging magnum for regular primers and give you a...

if it's military it must have a head stamp on the brass? If it was made in S. Korea it's very likely PMC. Some is non-corrosive if of later mfg. Bill is right-- that's a lot of trouble to go to for .308 which is normally so available.

Excellent post Taffer, and some good points made. Much better to have something than nothing, to wait for the larger, more expensive model and perhaps never to have it. Meanwhile, a lot can be learned on a mini, and most of it will apply to the...

A good question. The answer is, "virtually impossible." The technical, scientific reason is that rust bluing, found on many Mausers, or hot bluing on many of the later ones is done by a different process than cold bluing. For example, hot caustic...

How can this not be political? The Chinese Govt. and the PLA infiltrate agents into our defense industries (and most other industries as well) and steal technological secrets which they pass to Communist China. Watch the news...every now and then...

Never say never.....but usually the bolts were left "in the white". Sometimes you'll encounter them that were blued later in their lives, like an arsenal rebuild. Folks making sporters usually don't blue the bolt either because it's inevitable that...

I thought for certain one of our mold experts would have identified it by now. It's odd enough looking to have been a "one of" or perhaps a very limited production run-- certainly not a common item. But, for sure, whoever made it either had a good...

Der Gebirgsjager replied to a thread gun prices in Our Town
It seems to me, without any statistical or scientific backing, that whenever there is a political or civil unrest problem the prices go up. Unreasonably up. I recall the $150 SKS rifles that went to $350 and eventually to $650 and maybe higher over...

I've been looking at them also. Seem like a really great deal, and they now come in a couple of variations. They seem to be selling very well, and I've heard nothing bad about them. About the Spanish police trade-ins, that's a fascinating nugget...

I've never fired one, but have examined them when displayed by proud owners. They are real works of art, and fascinating pieces of history. Glad that I didn't have to carry one around, but if you were on horseback it would solve that problem.

This statement is what they call an "admission". Trolling is also, I believe, an offense of the rules and is probably what the average member dislikes the most. I haven't taken a poll, but it rates high on my list of dislikes. And to admit to...

Somebody, I think it was AMT, made a .30 Carbine semi-auto pistol. Buying one of them would give you the pistol/carbine same ammo, and save a carbine re-barreling.
