When making Ben's Red, once the beeswax is melted and you add the ingredients...especially the grease....turn the heat DOWN. Your trying for a blend, not a melt. Stir the grease in the mix on just enough heat to keep the beeswax in it's melted...

I've heard that the no name scopes that come mounted on the new Savages have problems. They have problems maintaining zero.

4 to 5 cents a shot is not a bad deal at all, considering no brass cases, or primers, or powder to buy, and the air is free except for the pumping effort.

That's going to be one seriously nice hunting and target air gun. Please report back on how many pumps,or how long it takes to hand pump it to full capacity, and of course, how it shoots. I'm still researching all possibilities of what to get lol.

I have a bunch of #7 1/2 shot in plastic containers that I'm considering posting as a trade for COWW ingots. From reading here, someone suggested trading off shot for COWW's instead of melting it down for boolits. Any shotgun reloaders out there? ...

I only use the 6 cavity Lee 356-120 TC regular groove. I started with it and have never seen a reason to change. I can empty my Lee 4-20 pot in just over an hour using it. Sized at .358" and tumble lubed with one coat of BLL, accuracy is great.

Thanks for the link GhostHawk. No matter if i pick one of the "more modern" air rifles or not, i think i may well wind up with a Benji 392 or 397 as well. They're too cool to pass up.

While I've slowly deprimed a few live primers, I prefer to shoot them off into a 55 gal barrel in my barn. I'd rather not wince each time I deprime the cases.

I watched a video of a young man with a Benjamin 392 or 397(can't remember which now) running it across a chrono. When he put 8 pumps in it, it was only varying + or - 1 fps. for the string. I've never seen such small variances in vel. across a...

This is as my Lyman mold drops them, without water quenching at .3665". I use COWW's and shoot them without sizing, tumble lubed with a very thin coat of Lee Liquid Alox. Using a full dose of AA#5, they shoot right where I aim.

I think each rifle has it's own preferance as to what it likes, regardless of how it shoots in another rifle. I've heard of some guns taking as many as 1000 shots to really settle down and do it's best?

My brother got his new Hatsan Edge .22 cal. today. He's already shot quite a few nice groups with it today and of course, it's no where near broken in yet. Almost shoots all the way through a 1" phone book @ 11 yds. with the pellets he's using....

The Hatsan Vortex 30 cal. @ 550 fps. is putting out 34 fpe @ the muzzle, and still has 23 fpe @ 50 yds. That is a serious pellet "hunting" rifle for sure in a break bbl. Definitely a rifle for the woods and fields and not back yard friendly...
