    I hear ya . Cant use timber here where I live ,the termites would chew it up over night ,every tree in the bush is hollowed out , leave a piece of 4x2 on the ground and it will be hollowed out leaving a paper thin out side skin .Nice job though .

    I made one from poly urethane to replace the old seal in a lyman ,45 lubesizer (its the very first model) ,made it like a normal lipseal like you would use in a axle bearing . Works a treat .you might try finding a lip seal that would do the job...

    Have one the same ,have to trap the but stock under my arm to open it , well oiled and maintained ,bore is like brand new ,overall finish is fine circa 1889 .p .Has the trapped butt with original cleaning rod .I rarely shoot it because I have a 92...

    Brass choreboy pot scrubber on an old brush ,coat liberally with oil or eds red and scrub the barrel back and forth a few times ,Then use flannel patches to clean out the crud . I used 0000 steel wool wrapped around and old bore brush on a 303/25...
